It's the two balloons I can't get over. The decision whether to blow them up must be a tough one. The idea is a good one but it just looks like a load of pound shop tat in a box. Where is the Snow Globe?

Bob Stanley described Erasure as being "secondary-school Pet Shop Boys underlings.....as close to instant disposable pop as anyone has ever got, it was possible to acquire a bunch of Erasure singles without ever being close to any of them; they were entirely confectionery." Snow Globe is essentially that.....the Christmas box of chocolates that Auntie Pughie gorges herself on after dinner. Whilst PSB release two brand new studio albums in less than a year, write a song cycle about a mathematician, and tour relentlessly, Vince and Andy are overdosing on saccharine sentiment. I'm sure that their fanbase is satisfied (and the balloons look great) but it really does remind one how lucky we Petheads are!

It's just a Christmas album ffs, obviously PSB are the greatest but this need for certain people to continually go on and on about how much better PSB are is just, well, childish as much as everything. I enjoy both, I don't have any stupid and pointless need to compare or go on about either group, I just enjoy the music and the fact that they are both still around. Erasure will have a new album out in a year or so, they might not have two in a year or a song about a mathematician, but hey, who cares and does it really make any difference at all? Absolutely not, but if it is really an issue for you then, well, you need to get out more or something.

Oh JS, as touchy as ever I see. I'm merely observing that Erasure have become a novelty act; they're the synthpop Black Lace. There's nothing wrong with that; it's just interesting to see how the two groups have diverged since their commercial heyday. PSB becoming national treasures, beloved pop uncles, yet still remaining astonishingly prolific. Erasure meanwhile have become what they always threatened to be even at their peak: a more frivolous version of Dollar.

Touchy? I'm just shocked at the ridiculous comments from people like you in this thread. Erasure are not PSB and vise versa. They are different groups, they do different things, Erasure are still releasing albums but now apparently it is not good enough because it is not as often as PSB! What difference does it make? Andy releases solo stuff as does Vince, it's not as if they are doing nothing with their time. And PSB are hardly setting the charts alight are they? Not that it matters at all these days. Why compare the groups in this way? Sorry but I just don't get it at all. But if it makes you feel good then carry on but it is all very confusing and pretty weird really.
Why compare? I just don't get it? And is there some kind of competition? Not that I know of.

I do think Erasure have so much more to offer though. Tomorrow's World looked like they were returning to form. Personally, I think they are wasting their time with Snow Globe but at the end of the day, it's what they want to do.
