i don`t know why popjustice can say: "Vital statistics time: on 'Fundamental' there are six upbeat songs, including three complete thunderers and two sort of vibey electro things"
Minimal: one of the vibey electro things
Integral: complete thunderer
Sodom show: complete thunderer
So there are one complete thunderer and two upbeat numbers missing:
PSYCHOLOGICAL: i think is midtempo
I'M WITH STUPID : mid Tempo
I MADE MY EXCUSES AND LEFT: Ballad
NUMB: Ballad
LUNA PARK: Ballad Air style of song slow song
CASANOVA IN HELL: mid tempo
TWENTIETH CENTURY: mid tempo
INDEFINITE LEAVE TO REMAIN : Ballad
God willing: Mainly orchestral
So there are one complete thunderer one upbeat number and one vibey electro thing missing. I don`t know where mister popjustice heard the other 3 upbeat numbers.

'Psychological' is probably the other 'vibey electro' number (??)
and 'I'm with Stupid' must be the other one he has in mind..
but that still leaves one...
I don't think the PJ review is trying to be particularly precise. Just gushing.

Psychological is vibey electro but mid tempo. there should be 6 upbeat numbers including 2 electro things and Psychologica is not an upbeat electro thing.
I`m with stupid is discribed by dazzerukuk and ting tong as a mid tempo and not as an upbeat number.

Could "Twentieth Century" be an uptempo track instead of what we tend to believe?
Ting Tong said:
Twentieth Century too was not easy to get into. But again it clicks into place after a few listens, and you find yourself tapping your toes to the electronic bass and sensual chords.
It would be weird to tap your toes to the rythm of a ballad...

I was also thinking about that how the math didnt add up. all I can think of is the term "stomper" is in the eye of the beholder.
they obviously thought "I'm with stupid" was one of the thunderers.
there is a fine line between say "saturday night forever" being a stomper or just a regular mid to upbeat track

It's really a matter of personal perception whether a song is uptempo or midtempo. For instance, Can You Forgive Her is midtempo if you strictly look at the BPM, but "sounds" like an uptempo song to most, I guess. "Rent" is decidedly uptempo when looking at the BPM count, but is often perceived as a midtempo song or even a ballad.

Also 'stomper' need not be a reference to tempo... could just been fat beats..

What does this sentence from popjustice mean?
Let's hope they don't get 2DTV to do it.

It's a reference to the video for Shoot The Dog - George Michael's 'flop' Bush-bashing single. It was animated by 2DTV and was crap.
