So today, as I stared into space during a class, I thought of something. You guys are probably going to attack me becasue I looked SO deeply into the album (which I know other people have been scolded for), but try to keep an open mind.

So, as stated before, Fundamental is focused more on current world events than love. Yeah, I know, there are a few love songs here and there, but most of it centers around politics (from what we've heard). Now, this is a big change for PSB, I mean, most of their other albums had lots of love songs on them.

Anyway, I think a good opening song for the album would be Numb. Why? Because it seems that Neil is saying, "f*ck love, let's focus on other things." Numb is about just wanting to escape pain (probably caused by love). He's putting lovesongs on the shelf, so to speak, and focusing on the world around him. I guess I think Numb is a good opening statement for the album.

I don't know, the more I read into this, it seems so complicated, but the idea is fairly simple. Be gentle everyone!

i'd love to comment and your thesis statement is interesting, but i'ts becoming increasingly difficult to discuss things like this without having heard the album, as more and more people seem to get their hands on it. how'd you hear it?

Well I've read several reviews. I think we all have a general idea of how the album will go.

how can you POSSIBALY trust a review, music is such a unique thing,

it means different things to everyone

they have a nice balance between commentary songs and love songs but I tend to prefer songs about love.I cant get as into a song as much as I would like when the subject is something along the lines of "to step aside".

Yes, but a lot of people can't understand that. Well, to be honest most of them DON'T WANT to understand that. They prefer waste their time making not funny jokes and insulting other people. It's sad but that's the true.

Have you never read a review of a book/play/cd that was gleaming, then been really disappointed when you experience it for yourself?

As far as I know PSB have written loads of political songs before Fundamental! Listen to Please, Actually and Introspective... Since Behaviour and especially Very the 'lovesongs' really came in!

This is very true. I guess they're just breaking the recent trend with Fundamental. But as I've been pointed out, at the end of the day I don't think any of us have heard the album (with the exception of a few). I don't know though, I mean, look at the song titles. The only two songs that seem they could be about love are "I made my excuses and left" and "Numb." Although I'm sure some of the other songs have some love-related undertones. I guess we'll just have to wait and see. Only about two months to go...

Same here. Though it's nice to hear the songs about everything else 'cause Neil writes perfect lyrics no matter what's the subject. I wish I could...

Because Neil fell in love for the first time with a guy. That Tom has a lot to answer for!
