NME thinks it's great. Remember the letter in the mag four years ago which they entitled 'The Pet S**** Boys'? Shows that they've had a change of heart.

Did 'Q' think it was good?

Thing is, some fans are prepared to say the opposite. How can one be so praising and another be so critical? Surely they should be on the same lines?

well just look at the thread you started on least favouirite song; everyone will have, for better or worse, their own opinion.

in the end, only you can decide if its a good album; others peoples opinions should have no bearing. who cares what 'Q' think?

I don't think the reviews have been all that different. They all tend towards saying that it's good album which sounds like PSB should sound. Better than the last few but not quite up there with Behaviour and Very. People also tend to agree that 'Integral' and 'Sodom and Gomorrah show' are among the outstanding tracks on the album.

Didn't start it, jmh but I know what you're getting at. For example, it's completely beyond me why someone doesn't like 'A Red Letter Day' and yet I can't stand 'Go West' which a lot of people like. But, I mean, surely a PSB fan will agree with a journo if they are praising the album?

We normally grade Fundamental on the nickname index. This takes into account the 'expectation level' of the eponymous Spaniard as the release date draws ever nearer. Reviews tend to cause dips in the index but nothing has been as grave as the God Willing Crash when it wasn't clear if that counted as a proper track or not.

Today the nickname index is 6.7 (up 0.1) after Morrissey entered the UK album chart at number one.

Well, it'll plummet now that iD has returned a mixed verdict on the latest opus...

With the availability of mobile downloads and the fact that it is now the 10th of the 4th (the tenth track on the fourth album being 'Jealousy') we are looking at a wopping 6.9 at the very least.

I generally LOVE at least 3 songs, and really like 5 per new PSB CD,so the odds are very good for me at least I will be very happy with fundamental.

The Q review hasn't come out yet, but they have said it's a corker

That IS odd, as you point. Especially seeing as "A Red Letter Day" was really a rather poor attempt at recreating "Go West".

yeh i do exactly the same on every album..
then one day you will let the cd run and end up hearing a song that you haven't heard in years ...
