Found the following backstage report from Top of the Pops, covering the cencorship problems concerning "Stupid".

It's a measure of how Blair and his New Labour right-wingers have neutered the BBC when Top of the Pops behaves in this cowardly and politically correct manner. It's remarkable of them to think a few prosthetics could cause such offence or imply political imbalance. The song isn't about Putin or Clinton, let alone nonentities such as Cameron or Campbell (though namesake Alastair's complicity needs no mention). It's laughable and yet sad to watch the BBC cower like this.
The BBC have bent over backwards to appease Blair ever since the Hutton Report. This TOTP incident shows just how insidious his control of the media is. Of course, by lumping the egregious Cameron and the harmless Emperor Ming into the fray, the BBC are doing more damage to politics than they would have if the performance was left as intended. Now, instead of confusing Blair and Bush for idiots, the impression is that all politicians are idiots - a dangerous and simplistic generalisation that always favours the corrupt and discredited. Why would Campbell - an apparently decent man who opposed the Iraq war, for example - be "satirised" in such a song? Balance, my arse. Just another example of Tony's tacit totalitarianism.

I do share your point of view Drico One. I'm with stupid is not about criticizing all the politicians. It's about these "2 guys". If I had been the PSB, I would have refused to play and would have called a press conference. This incident smells shit.

The balance issue would have been to do with the fact we are in the middle of the local elections in the UK. Blair bashing would have to be balanced with bashing the others....silly I know.

Yes! Something that occured to my subconsious, but took you to spell it out. Apparently the only medium where political consistancy counts is the visual one. I do hope BBC news are cutting all their news stories regarding New Labour this week with images of members of other political parties. That is clearly the measure of impartiality.

I'm confused now.
I interpreted this song being about obsessive fans that wanted to be like their heroes to the extent they put on a performance and pretend to be them, to impress them.
So am I missing something?
I saw a clip of a lyric that was posted, that seems very much political, but from the lyrics what is I'm with stupid saying. Please explain...

According to Neil himself
It was originally inspired by the T-shirt slogan that you used to see in Blackpool....so that's where the title came from. Then I was thinking about the relationship between Blair and Bush. I know a lot of liberal Americans can't believe that Tony Blair - who they regard as a rather intelligent, liberal British Prime Minister - could be involved with someone as daft and crude as George W Bush. It's inspired by that and presents it as a sort of relationship.

Please, compared to the traditional media in the US the BBC looks positively on verge of anarchy.
