OK, here is my tracklisting so far for a potential Fundamental Further listening CD:

1. Bright young things
2. Flamboyant (demo)
3. Miracles
4. Flamboyant (PopArt version, trainspoters may prefer the single version, but I think the album version is a better mix)
5. We re the Pet Shop Boys
6. (single mix of a Potemkin track if one is ever released)
7. (maybe Psycho instrumental, maybe not...)
8. Fugitive
9. In private
9. I m with stupid (PSB Maxi-mix)
10. The Resurrectionist (extended)
11. Girls don t cry

Am I missing anything? It would be cool if at least one track per remaining single was an old-school extended track like The Resurrectionst!

Since this is obeviously on PopArt there is NO reason what so ever to put it on here. The single version OK I can live with that.

Wouldn't it make more sense to put the b-sides from "Miracles" and "Flamboyant," along with things like "Bright Young Things," on the Release further listening? "Transparent" and "I didn't get where I am today" are outtakes from Release, after all.

Some truth to this.

I Didn't Get Where I Am Today wouldn't be on a Further Listening disc 2003-....
The track is from the Release sessions, so it was recorded in 2002 (or even 2001).
All tracks on Further Listening were released on a disc of the era they were recorded, not when they were released. For instance: Confidential (PSB demo), released in 1996, was on the Very Further Listening disc, since it was recorded in 1992. Transparent was also recorded in 2001 or so.

I'm more curious about what year they're (eventually) going to use to split the Further Listening CD for Release & Nightlife. what C2H tracks go on Nightlife and if any are forced onto the Release... perhaps given there's so many there might be an overlap of one busy year across the two.

I dunno why, but I've always thought of the PopArt singles being part of the Release era. Possibly because the b-sides "Transparent" and "I didn't get where I am today" were both recorded as part of the Release sessions so would fit in better on a Release further listening.

I would have thought that Nightlife would be 1999-2001 and then Release would be 2002-2005. The b-sides to the Release singles should go on the Nightlife FL because they would have been recorded during the Nightlife/Closer to Heaven sessions.

Examples on the previous FL discs would be "What keeps manking alive?" which, although a b-side in 1993, it was placed on the Introspective disc, and "Confidential" which, although a b-side in 1996, it was placed on the Very disc.

I would draw the line between Nightlife Further Listening and Release after "Lies" which was the last b-side recorded in 1999, and Fundamental Further Listening would start with the tracks recorded for PopArt (Numb belongs to those sessions)

For me, it would be something like this:

NIGHTLIFE 1997-1999

From "Sail Away" (recorded October 1997) to the last b-side recorded ("Lies" 1999)

RELEASE 2000-2001

From the first Chris Zippel session in March 2000 ("London" / "Somebody Else’s Business" / "Positive Role Model") to the last song recorded for Release ("I Didn’t Get Where I Am Today" in July 2001)

It won't be FL 2000-2001, since the album was released in 2002. So even if all songs were recorded in 2000 and 2001, the name will be FL 2000-2002. I would include PopArt bonus tracks too, actually. Transparent was recorded in 2001. IDGWIAT is from the Release sessions, and We're The Pet Shop Boys combines well with the other Zippel-produced tracks.
