What exactly is EMI's issue with this then? It got played, the title got mentioned?

This has to be the main single of Fundamental and the best option for this summer (better than Minimal wich is not the best thing to play in summer). It's a pity because the song is pretty AMAZING and it seems the song could be played on the radio.

In fact, I was thinking that the best song to play of the album was TSAGS and you can see this one has been chosen (and Integral, this previous week) to be played of the Bruce Ken Show. That's because of something, they like both songs and maybe these ones are their favourites.

Neil Tennant thought it was the main song of Fundamental (first single) but EMI told him that it wasn't going to be played because the title. But for Radio 2 is not a problem, so maybe EMI has made a mistake.

I prefer "Minimal" to "Sodom".

Heh, I prefere Integral to those two...but for radios, it could be Sodom. Though they said that the song itself is too long for radios and the edited version wasn't that good. Who knows.

'Minimal' is the better song of all the prospective uptempo singles.
I think it's the best thing they've done in a while and is just a cool, slick, modern pop song without any theatrics or camp.

Are you kidding? Everyone I've played it to (mostly non-psb fans) has loved it, in fact that goes for most of the album, but Minimal and Integral always get a "I really like this" type comment.Given some decent radio and TV exposure it's going to do a lot better than I'm with stupid or any PSB single has for a long time.

Given how well the album has been received to date, it would be a travesty if Integral didn't get released as a single.

After listening to the album it is clear that Minimal being a single is a mistake. Its simply waaaaay too middle of the road Pet shop boys and as a result gets instantly ignored by most non fans (believe me it annoys that hell out of me too). You need something that gets people to sit up and take notice and Integral is the best thing on the album that can do that.
I hope it proves me wrong but I very much doubt it.

On the other hand, Integral sounds like it came straight from 1994 and could kill off interest as surely as A red letter day and New York City boy. At least Minimal sounds somewhat contemporary and unusual. What they really need IMO is to record an overtly commercial non-album single like they did with Always on my mind and Where the streets have no name. Maybe for the third single.

If they do Integral (which isn't a bad song, just very tired and cliche for them), they should completely re-record it to make it sound much more modern and scary.
