What do you think that are the great misses of the PSB?

For me, it has to be C2H and the last 2 albums before Fundamental. Damn guitar fling.

I can't call any of mentioned by you albums misses. They all are great and I'm really proud of the Boys for making such beautiful albums like C2H, Nightlife and Release.

They are great, I enjoy listening but not top notch à la Behaviour, Very, Please or Actually.

If you look at the sales, yes, but if you just close your eyes and listen to them, they are masterpieces, arent' they?

Lol, PSB's music is above everything else. I rate music as Gold, Silver and Bronze. PSB is Diamonds so no contest there.

C2H is a damn good record - unfortunately without a single. Production and songwriting surely are superior to PLEASE. RELEASE was different, but still a good record and it actually features not more guitars than FUNDAMENTAL.

Their mistake was New York City Boy.

Closer To Heaven was a disaster. The songwriting for that project produced one track that could stand against any in their canon, but the subsequent production massacred the exquisitely fragile For All Of Us demo. That summed up the whole affair in microcosm for me. What started out as a potential high collapsed in a welter of stereotypical guff.

Well Said, as a project, Closer To Heaven went to Hell. It was a big stereotype without any kind of foil to counteract the cliché-ridden storyline. It also had the poor effect of seeping its musical influence or distraction into three PSB releases. “For All Of Us” wasn't all that bad in it's produced form and would not sound out of place on a soundtrack album... The true loss from demo to final product was Home/Here which became polished but without the original edge. Overall, the closer to heaven era is at best a curiosity to the songwriting process more than an enjoyable collection of music. On the other hand Battleship Potemkin was excellent and was needed for them to exorcise the show tune demons.

Rubbish. As a musical it was fantastic. It the protagonists were all straight, it would have been a massive success. Too many people cannot get past the fact that it is a "gay musical".

My Night, Something Special, FAOU and Call me old-fashioned all stand up to some of the best PSB material.

Maybe PSB could prove to us how good C2H was by actually releasing some of the songs as finished demos with Neil's vocals, even as a bonus disc of some sort. There are some really amazing songs there that may never get their due. Respect what they were attempting, but lost some great tunes which should have been theirs.

I'm sorry, but the sexuality of the protagonists has nothing to do with the derivative trash that was Closer To Heaven. The cliche-ridden, hackneyed storyline that reduced the characters to unsympathetic cardboard cutouts ensured the show closed almost before it had opened. The reviews - often written by gay men - were scathing. That told its own tale. This wasn't a "gay" musical. This was ridiculous, stereotypical ghettoising of the most demeaning kind.
