Charts position is much less important than people think

The music industry is about money; being the "number one album" right out of box is just a sign that the act has a good showing. It makes great PR but in the long run its not being in the top five that really matters. The real test is how many copies an album sales.
PSBs need to sell enuff copies to insure the lable makes money. I don't have the official figures but I read someware that Nightlife sold 1.3 million copies world wide. Release sold 900.000 thousand copies. If Fundamental can sell 1 million or more copies i think the band and the record label will both make a nice profit. And that means more new albums to come
So total copies sold is what we should be looking at.
Does anyone have the numbers for Fundamental copies sold. at this point? Not just UK but world wide.

A few days ago someone wrote in this forum 40.000 copies had been sold in UK by now. No idea of other countries. But I know that Fundamental dropped from 9 to 29 in Spain and it hasn' achieved gold disc yet.

Wherever you read about the NL + R info it looks likely wrong.They are not listed in the following 1xPlatinum (=1 million) + above european chart sales certification results ;

Neil answered a question a year and half that stated that Release(at that time) had sold 750.000 copies. In an interview prior to the release of Release, he stated that Nightlife
had sold 1.2 million.
Clearly Neil would have better access to such accurate info

Thank you for that from the 'horses mouth' so to speak....perhaps the record company didn't feel the benefit of certifying since i imagine it does cost them for the cert -its not done automatically?
They must had much better first week sales than 'fundamental' and/or more stability throughout worldwide charts it has had so far to get to those levels....

Hi reality check, you can find the answer to the Release question in the questions and
answers section on the official site. Year 2004.
The sales are worldwide sales, therefore no certification.

addendum: Reading the question + answers reminded me why i regard PSB as some of the most venerable gay men in show BIZ (along with eg Moby,Michael Stipe) in the way they conduct there lives,there beliefs and actions etc.

Where did you get the idea that Moby is gay? From Eminem? Moby is known as a compulsive womanizer who has dated among others Christina Ricci and Natalie Portman. I wish I was as gay as that.

If you sympathize with gays and/or produce dance music, it's enough to be considered gay in the USA... (Why do people listen to Eminem in the first place...)
