I was actually gonna make a thread about this!

Fundamental has to be one of the only albums that gets better and better for me! Hell, I even like Twentieth Century now! I can't believe some people on here are saying they should get on with making a new album or it's too slow. Fundamental is probably my favourite PSB album bar Battleship Potemkin and I seriously hope they work with Trevor Horn again!
It might not be setting the charts alight but that's other peoples loss, Fundamental is a work of art and a fantastic record!!!

I tend to skip Minimal though, probably because it was the last single.

It is my favourite PSB album. Trevor Horn makes good songs excellent.

it's my favorite PSB album too. and these days I am not skipping any. before, I used to skip Psychological and 20th Century.

Battleship Potemkin & Fundamental are now in a league of their own for me.

I only skip 'God Willing'. Fav. track at mo is 'I made my excuses and left'.

Fav. Battleship song at mo is 'After All'. (There's been nothing this good since DJ Culture & Rent)!

I love the whole cd! I can skip over Casanova in Hell though. Its all good!

I really like this album as well, I just bought it 2 days ago (the one with fundamentalism). I love the glosiness of it but hate the fact that it gets dirty with fingerprints.

Fave tracks for me are: Psychological, I'm with stupid
Least Fave: Indefinite leave to remain and Casanova in Hell (although its growing on me)...

Overall great album...

I agree, it is better today than when it came out. I like every song on it!!!


At first I was not thrilled with Psychological, Numb and God Willing. But now I find that Psy and GW are great. Numb is still my least fav track but it has grown on me.

I tend to change my opinion on which track is my #1. Right now it is Casanova in Hell. Best fast track is Integral.

This has a down side however, it is going to be hard to make the next one this great! All of there albums are great, but I have tracks on each of the previous 3 CDs that I just can't get into.

Not so with Fundamental

I listened to Fundamental over and over when I got it but there's a few too many other great albums around at the moment for me to allow Fundamental to dominate the stereo. Carried Away by Ooberman is a great album, Jim Bob's new best of is ace, and so is the forthcoming Spray album called Children Of A Laser God. Spearmint's new album Paris In A Bottle is pretty good too. I also picked up a whole stash of classic indie albums for under A$10 each recently (including Super Furry Animals and Spiritualized) so I've been spoiled for choice, really!

My song ranking for the Fundamental tracks hasn't really changed since I got it... with Integral just holding out Minimal for bragging rights as the best track on the album.

Best PSB album since Very. It's definitely top 3 with Behaviour and Very, but I would struggle to sort them by preference and stick to it.

As with "Nightlife", I find myself getting bored with Fundamental after a while, unfortunately. Still a very good album, but not anywhere near their early masterpeieces:

2. Introspective
3. Behaviour
4. Actually
5. Fundamental
6. Nightlife
7. Very
8. Release
9. Bilingual

Or something like that.

I would classify Fundamental in the "like a couple of tracks at a time" category of PSB albums ... rather than the albums I can listen to for years end to end such as Behaviour and Release (yes, I'm the one)

Luna park is the highlight for me tho .. even if it is the most "Release" track on the album

IMO if I were to find out this was their last CD I would be perfectly content they went out on a high note track wise.

I agree about luna park.I havent even heard the alternative rock version yet but Im sure I would still like this really beautiful and progressive fundamental one better.

I listen each night still to this day and I love it, I am addicted at the moment...can't think what'd make me wanna move on just yet..
