now that the ''Numb'' single is released, ''Party song'' can have its own topic
this song rocks, it's a shame it wasn't a single, it could really bring some attention and would be great on airplay

No, i doubt very much that it would.

I actually agree with Dannii. The first time I heard the track I thought why can't they release something like this. It has the beat of a sugarbabes type stomper which should appeal to the younger chart fans.

Don't like it.

Yes it is a happy song that would appeal to the younger fans, that's exactly why I don't like it. Give me a 'slash your wrists' song anyday.

I quite like it. It has more hit potential than its A-side.

Apparantly it was one of the songs that Pete Burns was offered and after listening to it several times i think it would've been a great song to do.

I assumed it was a shot at the record label, or similar - it sounds like an angry response to being told to write 'a party song with a good time lyric' - that continued misconception that the PSB are actually a gay disco band, you know the one. I never even considered taking it at face value, but... this doesn't seem to have come up elsewhere, so am I wrong? I figured the irony came that they'd put it on the B side of what clearly wasn't a Party Song - but then the track that follows actually IS about a party, and somehow combines the two idioms. Perhaps this is reading too far into the CD2 tracklisting.

It sounds a bit like Blue on Blue, both similar sounding, both have the same ending. Sounds alright though not bad, and I love his KC And The Sunshine Band sampling.

I immediately thought that this was a Kissin' Cousin to JAJP. I could see Pete Burns singing this - especially with the double KC reference ( Miss Petey covered That's the way) & the not so oblique record label swipe ( as Ramzy observed).

Alas, it's just an appetizer to the PSB banquet, so it's rightfully a B-side.

Party Song is crap and would have been an absolutely disasterous choice for a single (even worse than Numb). I can't believe that anyone in their right mind could possibly suggest such a thing.

This whole "oh, the b-side should have been the single" thing that is so common on these forums have really gotten out of hand. There are a FEW examples of PSB b-sides and extra tracks that should/could have been singles, but it really is only a few. And "Fugitive" is the ONLY one of these that is a totally obvious first single choice, the rest are just possible singles, nothing more.

Get over yourself. Party song aint that bad, it's a good loud track which appeals. Fujitive is also of that ilk - we're agreed on that!

A Man Could Get Arrested
Was That What It Was
Do I Have To?
I Get Excited (You Get Excited Too)
It Must Be Obvious
Shameless
Too Many People
Hit And Miss
Delusions Of Grandeur
Screaming
Positive Role Model
The Resurrectionist
Party Song
Bright Young Things

.... all B-sides that might as well have been singles. :)

Ramzy's theory is interesting, by the way. It sounds indeed like something a record company boss could order: a party song with a good time lyric...
