The live version of West End Girls on CD1 of Numb is awesome. I did manage to listen to the show on Radio 2 back in May & listening to West End girls live is a great appetiser for what's coming next Monday. Best live version of West End girls (beating Nightlife, that's saying something). The foundations are laid, roll on Monday for the Concrete to set!!

By far my favorite version of West End girls is the one from the Performance tour
The intro of the version of West End girls that appears on numb has a slightly different intro as the the one on radio 2. Who knows maybe it was recorded at a rehearsal and the crowd added later.

I think the 'live' album is great. I've been listening to the Radio 2 show for the past couple of months (recorded it). I like 'After All' the most on it.

The intro is definitely different because in the show itself they segued straight into it from Indefinte Leave To Remain.
Presumably this was only an issue for the Numb single release where the track is on its own.
It also seems to my ears that the crowd is slightly quieter on the Numb version of the track than the one I recorded off the radio. Might just be my recording though.

The crowd noise has been generally toned down on the CD.
Also, Neil's quip at the end of TSAGS about 'that's the wind in the desert' has been cut out, which is a shame because it was really funny.
I agree with Philip, After All is the highlight on the CD.

I prefer the Montage version by far. It's one of my favourite PSB moments ever... First performing the brilliant For Your Own Good live without being on stage. Then this great intro to West End Girls, the humping bassline and their appearance on stage... wow.
Also the production of that West End Girls version is fantastic! The song sounds updated and fresh; better than any version they played during later live performances. I still hope for a studio recording of that particular West End girls version.

the mix of West End girls on the numb single is awful. the performance is fine but someone has either cocked up the mastering or who ever mixed it had a bad day.
The low frequnecies are all over the place make and it hard to make a definition between certain low end sounds.
Gives the whole track a muddy sounding feel.
Hope this is an error.

It is a bit like that, isn't it? Can anyone who's heard the album confirm whether the problem extends onto the full concert as well?

I got my copy of the album today in Dublin and I think I kniow what you mean. The base sounds slightly muddy, fuzzy and soft throughout. It doesn't sound sharp enough.
Still very much enjoying the album though.
