Counterfeit "Minimal" Promos?

I've just received a "Minimal" 10-track promo that I bought from eBay, and it looks like a counterfeit to me. The "sleeve" is just a folded piece of paper with the tracklisting and Parlophone logo printed on it -- not the close-up of the tubular writing that has been shown in pictures of the sleeve.

The disc itself is a CD-R, greenish laser-side. On the label side, Pet Shop Boys, Minimal, The Remixes appears at the top of the disc, a rather grainy-looking Parlophone logo on the right side of the disc, and at the bottom a paragraph of standard promo copyright info. The graininess of the Parlo logo sets off alarm bells.

Is this a fake? Do real ones look as I've described?

Not really a fake! It's a (for me) so called 'Parlophone UK promo', which comes out a few days earlier than the 'regular promo' (which is manufactured by EMI Europe). It is burned for journalists and media staff, who should get things a bit earlier than the main crowd!

If you even for a moment thought it was a fake, why even bother buying it if you're that concerned about it? I'm sorry for being frank with you, but really, it's like an art collector buying a Picasso and only after receiving it questioning its authenticity.

That's why I bought the real tubular official deal: no to be bothered with those questions.

the thing is: after I got the tubular cardsleeve version, I also want the CD-R version (because I got it for the other releases (Ism/Stupid) also. Is this 'collectorism' or simply 'cazyism' ? :)

I'm exactly the same and I am sure there are quite a few of us out there!!

I think it's 'Crazycollectorism' to be honest!!!!
