After Potemkin and Concrete, is it about time PSB did a studio album with an Orchestra. We have already had Left To My Own Devices as a one off single and Concrete is one of the most enjoyable albums i have eve had the pleasure of listening to.

I'm surprised the BBC have not plugged Concrete on the t.v. They are often advertising radio 2.

over the years I've really come to see their style of music really does suit itself to big orchestras.

I've often thought that their use of strings and horns is what sets them apart from other groups who just seem to be content with guitar bass drums and a few bleeps from a synth.

I'm guessing though their next CD will be pretty hardcore electronic given the steady helping of orchestra stuff in recent years.

The album that became Fundamental (remember the one that Neil was listening to on his ipod?!) was supposed to be pretty hardcore electronic. Whatever ever happened to that? How many of those tracks ended up on Fundamental or as B sides?
Or are they all sitting on a hard drive somewhere waiting to be released next year?
We must be told!

Urm... you mean in a complete take? Because otherwise, Fundamental is virtually all orchestral - there are, what, two? three? songs that don't feature one, aren't there? I suppose a totally orchestral album might be interesting though.

Let's face it, what we got wasn't a combination of that hardcore electronic thing with orchestral scoring, it was something totally different, so I think there's probably still the potential for a meeting point between the two. Potemkin has a very different 'sound' from Fundamental, and that's closer to what's been described. Although, that said, a large number of their records also fulfil that meeting point.

Hey, a six-song-Left to my own devices-(disco mix)-style-LP and I guess 80% of the fanbase is happy. But then again, that would be to f*** easy.

Yeah, the full works. They could call it something like 'Electric Proms.' ( i pinched that) The quality of the sound is so much better with Orchestra's.
