Go West video - original version?

"[Go West] video was initially banned by MTV on the grounds of being misogynistic as it did not have any women in it. Despite protests from the band's management and counter-accusation of homophobia as there were plenty of other videos of all-male groups on the channel which did not have women in them, or used them in a sexually objectifiying manner, the video was re-edited to have a black female (long-time Pet Shop Boys backing singer Sylvia Mason-James ) dressed as the Statue of Liberty."

 I didn't know this until today! :wall:

So, now, any ideas where can one watch the original video (without Sylvia)? YouTube nothing, it seems. Thanks.

Never heard of this either - I read it on Wikipedia a couple of weeks ago and did think about removing it because it sounds like a load of rubbish.

That's why they added the performance parts to the video of Home & Dry – MTV accused them of being misanthropic, because there were no people in it in the first version.

They were afraid that if they complained, PSB would bring the Go West soldiers back into the Liberation video too.

Oh what a laugh...how silly...I guess people seem to get hit over the head with politically correct hammers from time to time...anyway I guess if its true they probably just shot extra scenes with Sylvia and added them in to the existing video....I don't think there is another version :?

Track 1 Integral
Track 2 Misogynistic (Men only Mix)
Track 3 Misanthropic (No-one there Mix)

Now there's a B-side title.

It's not true. Wikipedia is filled with all sorts of rubbish - that's what happens when you let anyone with a keyboard submit "content."
