Have you noticed that the current tour is not described as the FUNDAMENTAL-tour on the official website or anywhere else? Strage... Should there be any reason for it?

Yes, a title to the thread/topic might've
been rather helpful.
For the topic, see note from the fifth of
November:
The Fundamental tour has now arrived on
the West Coast of America.
Tonight Pet Shop Boys will play in Seattle,

On the official site is only written "petshopboys.co.uk/tour", followed by the tourdates. WE, die-hard fans ofcourse know this IS the Fundamental tour, but what for people who visit only from time to time the site? It should be better iff they had written above the tourdates: FUNDAMENTAL ON TOUR or something like that (should be clear for EVERYONE)

Erm, please see my above posting, it
is mentioned as
'Fundamental' tour on the official site in some context.
They might change the tour schedule for the protocol
one day, be patient. Btw. the MCMLXXXIX tour is also
known just as 'The Tour' or 'Tour' ...

You're completely right Pani when you say that the tour is mentioned as the Fundamental tour...IN SOME CONTEXT, somewhere on the official site. Hopefully they will change one day (maybe for the European dates) the toursection and will write in big letters FUNDAMENTAL ON TOUR. Think they can win twice: people who don't follow Neil & Chris that close will read FUNDAMENTAL ON TOUR and will conclude that the boys are on tour with their new album, called, Fundamental, as mentioned in the title...

In my opinion, the current American tour isn't the Fundamental-tour.
Pop-Art is just released there and it's more a Pop-Art-tour.
They don't play songs like "Luna Park" and/or "Casanova in Hell" which
you expect in the Fundamental-tour.
I hope they play the most songs of Fundamental next year in Europe and
change it with some Pop-Art songs. Much fans have seen it already in the
summer-tour. I can't get enough of it, but I would see more...

The official tour program sold in North America states on its cover:
PET SHOP BOYS
FUNDAMENTAL
So, at least according to the tour program, it does appear to be the Fundamental Tour.
As has already been pointed out, it might have made more sense in the U.S. to call it the PopArt Tour (since PopArt is the most recent PSB release in the States) except for the fact that the setlist includes so many songs (seven of them) from Fundamental -- more than half of the album and more than a quarter of the live show. So, from that perspective, calling it the Fundamental Tour made sense.

The back stage pass that I have says "PSB Fundamental".
There were several Preprinted signs throughout the back stage area that say for example " Pet Shop Boys - Catering/Dressing rooms - Fundamental Tour"
