PSB remix The Killers

Just posted on the official site:
Pet Shop Boys are in their studio remixing "Read My Mind", the forthcoming third single from The Killers' "Sam's Town" album. The single is expected to be released early next year. Neil and Chris both went to see The Killers in concert at Brixton Academy at the end of November which is when the remix was originally discussed.
Love it when PSB remix other people.

Oh my god !!!! That's the most AMAZING bit of music news I heard this year.
When I listed to The Killers album, there was ONE standout track, which I immediately loved and never stopped loving: Read My Mind !!
I'm SO damn pleased to hear it's going to be a single, and even MORE pleased that Pet Shop Boys remix it, Yay, yay, yay

They will only remix for certain artists. I have noticed that.

Amazing news. I would have prefered if they had remixed "Bones" (or "Somebody told me" from the previous album), but I'm sure it will be a good remix anyway. It's good that they remix groups with a young fanbase, maybe some of them will discover PSB's music thanks to that.

Exactly that. You won't find them working with someone like U2 or Depeche Mode.

Presumably the Pets have never been asked to remix Depeche Mode or U2. I would imagine that the artist generally approaches the potential remixer, rather than the other way around. (Yes, I know the Pets approached Madonna - they were tired of waiting to be asked!

Bands like U2 or DM would never ask PSB to remix a single for them. And the boys know this, plus the boys would never approach them either. If its a certain artist that the boys know will agree to a remix, then they will do it.
