The origins of POSITIVE ROLE MODEL?

Hey there. I'm sure most of us have seen the excellent clip of PSB performing "Positive Role Model" at Glastonbury -- in 2000 (a couple years BEFORE it's appearance as a 'Release' b-side, its inclusion in 'Closer to Heaven' and in 'Disco 3'.)
What was it originally intended for back in 2000? Was it meant to see the light of day before it eventually did?
It's interesting to note the suptle differences in that live version, i.e. Neil singing over the eventual instrumental bridge...
Thanks for any info!

It was originally intended to be a single from a shelved greatest hits intended for 2000, if I remember rightly.

Great song, but this perfomance is one of the worst I've ever seen...

I agree that the performance is not very good, Neil seems to have had a bad day.
I never liked the song itself either. Thank god this wasn't a single for a Greatest Hits, it's miles below Miracles and Flamboyant.

Actually, I think, it's possible candidate (along with "Delusions of Grandeur", "Hit and Miss", "I Didn't Get Where I am Today" and "The Resurrectionist") for the lead-single of next b-sides compilation (let forget about name for a while)...

Agreed, it was like Neil was making it up as he went along!!

I agree. It's one of their worst songs ever! The chorus is so in need of a tune...
It works quite well within the 'Closer to Heaven' context though, but not as a stand-alone song.
