Looking through the "Grammy Preview" in the new Rolling Stone, there's no mention of the PSBs--no surprise there (though RS has been friendly in some reviews, I happen to remember Nightlife's review in RS being mentioned by Neil to the crowd at the Chicago show on the Nightlife tour, at the end of the concert).

In fact, there was not even a mention of the dance/electronic category in their category-by category breakdown, they even had a feature on the POLKA category! That surprises me a little since Justin Timberlake (sp?) is so loved by the idiotic journalists that have made RS worse than it was. Timbaland wasn't even mentioned in its several articles on produces who are nominated....

I haven't read Rolling Stone much lately, is it really this bad?

I can't stand drivel like music magazines. I prefer to visit forums like this and read the views of the common music listener as opposed to some hack who has had a cd thrown at them and been told to listen to and rate it.

America is all about Rock. Period!

Rolling Stone is a crap magazine and so is American radio in general. THey do not play Pet Shop Boys new music.

they dont even play goldfrapp either. i mean american radio is crap. maybe thats the reason why the ipod is popular.

If you ignore electronic and dance music in favour of a feature about Polka, you cannot expect to be taken seriously as a pop music magazine. It's beyond ridiculous.

Normally, music magazines are a source of irritation for me. They are often dominated or heavily influenced by people who *think* they have a sublime taste, for instance the arrogant editor who decided not to include the electronic dance music category in the list of nominees. All subjective choices and opinions, as well as the many bizarre reviews.

Reading a music magazine is often like reading your least favourite newspaper, with the exact opposite political colour of your preference. So, when some magazine buthers Fundamental in a review and then put it high in their year-end list, you're left behind in complete confusion.

One thing I've noticed is PSBs on american TV a little more--VH1 classic has played PSB videos (What Have I done to Deserve This, West End girls, and even Domino Dancing) in the last few weeks while I happened to be watching, which is often on while I'm working in my home office or up late at night with our baby. Perhaps being on Rhino has made PSB more "retro" in the eyes of some making programming decisions.


That said, I have noticed Erasure on TV a lot also lately--there was a E! special on Lindsay Lohan (Who needs love like that--!), and some show on CMT (Country Music Television) had an Erasure song on (Chains of Love, I think) I've noticed recently. That's all I can remember offhand, but there have been more Erasure sightings on American TV lately--Did they get new management?

nobody reads RS anymore here in America except for free at the Borders cafe.

I read RS only if it has PSB on it. Still not so good mag.
