Integral should not be a single, Sodom and Gomorrah or Casanova in Hell SHOULD!!!!!!!! Integral has a sound to it that will have no impact to others than hardcore PSB fans whereas I know for a fact that the other two do!! I personally played Fundamental to a guy who works with me and he got addicted to and caught the melodies of the two latter songs mentioned above almost instantly! He ended up buying PopArt to check them out and then he had Fundamental later....

All because of SAGS and CASANOVA IN HELL, not Integral wich he heard equally often.

Personally I too like those 2 songs immensely aswell as Indefinate leave to remain but that one has to be listened to a lot more times to get hooked on as the other two get there instantly...

Please take notice of this you who might read this and have anything to say about it!!

Regards, Bjarni.

What kind of skewed logic is that.

Just because one of your coworkers preferred those two godforsaken tracks, you "know for a fact" these are the the bee's knees.

Go and 'test' a bigger sample of the population and then *speculate*. You might not be the subject of ridicule then.

The shortcomings of mr. Bjarnis statistical analysis aside, he is still right, though.

Absolutely not!

TS+GS should have been the first single. Casanova in Hell should never be a single. Integral is one of the two (along with TS+GS) obvious single choices on Fundamental.

If I look at my personal taste, I can say that PSB didn't manage to release the best tracks of their albums as a single, since 1993. None of my faves (The Survivors, For Your Own Good, Happiness Is An Option, Birthday Boy, Indefinite Leave To Remain, Casanova In Hell, Fugitive) were released as singles.

As for Fundamental, I think The Sodom & Gomorrah show is an obvious single, even more than Integral. Minimal was a good choice; it should have been the first single.

You're right about one thing. In time, when new people pick up the album, they are going to be severely puzzled as to how the singles could have been I'm with stupid, Minimal and Numb, rather than Sodom&Gomorrah and Integral. It doesn't make any sense.

Things aren't always black and white. Everyone knows SAGS was supposed to be the first single; that the way the Pet Shop Boys wanted it, but EMI wouldn't allow a release with that title. And Numb was released because Integral sounded similar to the first two, I'm with stupid and Minimal, which didn't make as big a dent as they'd like. Plus they paid a lot I assume for Diane Warren. Numb was a gamble, but one worth taking even though it didn't work out. The singles aren't my favourite songs off Fundamental, but I agree with the decisions to use them.

How on earth can Casonova be a single singing about erections????????

That would really make the boys popular for the wrong reasons.

What about an Integral/SAGS medley?

I can imagine Integral (the "unchanging, one season" part) segueing into the SAGS chorus...
