Lets not turn this into a 'Americans are Stupid / No they're not' thread. lets just take a moment to think of the poor people who have lost their lives and the families that have been affected.

Another pointless tragedy and waste of young lives.

I'm surprised at the body count. thats pretty high for one crazy guy.
theres some talk about the campus leaders not getting into action soon enough as there appears to have been 2 groups of shootings. one in the morning and one 2 hours later.

when this is all over theres going to be hell from the parents of the dead students asking why their children killed in the second shooting are dead.easy for me to say, but I would have evacuated the campus at the first notice of a shooting.

Apparently school officials didn't notify students and faculty in a speedy manner about the first shooting on campus. I guess the feeling is that if students and faculty were told about the first shooting they may have had time to evacuate the school of lock themselves in on campus. Apparently there was a gap of two hours between the two incidents. Either way, people dropped the ball there. It's almost unimaginable that 30+ people lost their lives today on a college campus...so sad.

I guess we know where the next NRA convention is going to be held anyway.

Are you saying the victims were to stupid to get out of the way? Or Americans are so stupid they couldn't know in advance that a maniac was plotting an horrific assault?

I suspect what you mean is, "Americans are stupid because they're a violent society that allows guns to run rampant".

Replace "Americans" with "Southerners" and you're quite correct. In my experience, Virginians love their guns less than their spouses but more than their pets.

Far better for that to be the case than for us to all sit here with our faux sympathy. At least that would mean there's been some sort of debate rather than an insincere hand-wringing competition where everybody competes for the right to be "concerned".

Stricter gun laws make it more difficult for random lunatics to kill innocents. That's an inescapable fact. I think we're about to find that some of those who express "sympathy" or send their "thoughts" to the families of the bereaved are actually card-carrying members of the NRA.

I'm looking forward to the first reports that the killer was a disaffected "loner" who nobody liked at school. Yawn.

33 dead now. I am genuinely sorrowful and sympathetic towards victims families. I was still at high school when the Dunblane massacre took place just 50 miles away.

anyways they have a shooter dead and someone in custody they arent sure if he's related to the incident or not.
this will be on the news for awhile.

as far as arguing we've already done this and better years ago.
we need some new issues.we're recycling.

Give the police time to figure out what happened.

Agree, particularly with the fourth line - there is no reason for this thread to be locked.

correct, but i'm not saying they are stupid. i'm saying lets not get into that. and btw, my sympathy is genuine like everyone elses here. Fact.

99% of everyone got that.

Let me first say it's horrible for all theae students and their family let's hope something like this never happens again. My thought are with them.

Now all I wanna say about this is that it's just way too easy to get your hands on guns in the US.
