They are both republicans.......I hardly see Neil and Chris kneeling before the Queen. Well not Her Majesty anyway.........

I agree with Joemoz. They're always going back on what they said a few years ago. I bet they would accept it. And after seeing some of the people who were picked for this honour recently, I don't see why they wouldn't be offered.

Bono and Bob Geldof accepted and they're not even British! That was a bit controversial over here in Ireland.

If Neil or Chris accepted a gong from any govt, I'd move all my mp3's into my recycle bin as a protest.

(Then move them all back then next day)

I think the negative points against them accepting is an extension of that sort of mind frame where one secretly hopes their favorite band doesnt have huge success again so they can stay "yours".

You call accepting a knighthood 'down to earth' behaviour? The recipient is basically saying that they're better than 'normal' untitled citizens. I doubt they would go that far down the lost principles highway, even Neil.

I think he would accept it in the same way Ian Mckellen accepted his. I don't think it will happen anytime soon - possibly after he's retired from making pop music, and he's running his own media company or something.

What a load of complete bs . I don't care how many awards they win or who cares to nominate them for what honour - I can't see how that would make any difference to me. I think it takes a rather twisted mind to get that idea.

However, I do want them to stay true to the principles that they've had, and which I admired them for, some of which include opposition to the ludicrous idea of a monarchy in a modern nation, and a distaste for meaningless honours.

For them to go to and bow to the queen would be the ultimate sell-out and I hope and think that Neil and Chris are never going to cross that line.

You obviously don't know them very well, but you never know, they did put out an album of guitar orientated tracks.
