Spaghetti Records

Is it me or what I read (wikipedia, they're reliable) true? PSB created a record label? Spaghetti Records. Cicero and Boy George is under this label. If PSB have their own label, why not ditch Parlophone and do things the right way. Like New order having Factory where they can do whatever and whenever.

Well Spaghetti Records is now defunct, but they've got the Ye Olde English label (or whatever it's actually called) which has put out releases by Atomizer, Pete Burns and maybe someone else. I doubt they have the resource base to effectively promote and distribute music for an act with the international appeal of the Pet Shop Boys. But who knows... maybe one day.

If you leave a major label and release your stuff on a smaller, independent label, you still need your records distributed. As far as I remember, the early releases on Spaghetti were distributed by Polydor.

There are however distributors who deal exclusively on behalf of independents. 3MV/Pinnacle comes to mind as far as the UK goes. In Australia, we have Mushroom Distribution Services (MDS) who do a similar thing.

If you look at the label of the Olde English records (and the Lucky Kunst one too, I think) it says something like "The copyright in this sound recording is owned by Spaghetti Recordings Ltd".

If the record is defunct, who distributes Atomizer, Boy george or whoever was under this label now?

I'm not sure Boy George has a recording contract. Did his duet with Amanda Ghost ever get released? I think he's busy being a DJ now.

Yes, it was a Spaghetti/Parlophone release and had Parlophone catalogue numbers.
