Did you watch it? WHAT a final! Tennis at its very best.

Despite being Swedish I supported Roger Federer to win for the 6th time in a row and beat Bjorn Borg's record!

Congratulations to Rafael Nadal. Good year for Spain: first European football champions and now the Wimbledon winner. :D

Good news: next year we'll have a ROOF over the centre court! Damn those rain breaks...

Simply brilliant. I was supporting Roger because he is the don but Rafa's a top bloke too and probably deserved it in the end. Looking forward to the tennis in the Olympics and then the US Open in September. Like I said in another thread, they're both a credit to their sport and put certain sports 'stars' to shame in terms of their skill, attitude and class. Going to watch the highlights now! And isn't Gwen Stefani gorgeous?

I was gripped and on the edge of my seat. Fabulous entertainment.

Incredible ! Admittedly, I was rooting for Rafa but glad that it wasn't a three set rout and Federer's resilience and will alone turned it into probably the best five set match I've ever seen. And like PB states, a credit to the game and both such humble, unassuming champions.

Fall of Federers' demise though is greatly exaggerated; lets face it, only one man is above his level at the moment, and he cruised through to the French Open and Wimbledon finals with ease. Still my tip for the US Open.

What surface is used for Olympics by the way ? I'm guessing its a hard court.

Maybe one reason why I like Federer better is that he doesn't groan when he hits the ball! It's really annoying when they do...

Oh I like to hear men groaning....

Rafa won the French Open, as well, and I really believe he'll get the top of the ATP's ranking in the near future.

Yes, it's a good year for Spain. On cycling for example, we have won the Giro with the Spanish ciclist Contador. Tour de France didn't want Contador's team to take part of its race. So another Spanish ciclist will win it: Alejandro Valverde. At least I hope so.

Talking about basketball, for example, the national team is World Champion. Talking about Formula 1 we have the best pilot of the world, the problem is the car is French  (I'm joking, don't get me wrong.) . Fernando Alonso came from Asturias as David Villa (and as me) in the north of Spain.

Alonso isn't, and never will be the best F1 driver in the world ....

The ITF and the Beijing Organizing Committee for the Games of the XXIX Olympiad (BOCOG) have chosen DecoTurf II as the surface for the seventeen match and practice courts, all of which will have night lighting. DecoTurf is a multi-layered, cushioned hard-court surface also used for the 2004 games and at other major events like the US Open.

The Centre Court will seat 10,000; Show Court 1, 4000; Show Court 2, 2000; and the outer courts, 200 each.

All matches will use Wilson's US Open ball.

At first glance that read Discoturf II; which would have been nice. Not enough matches are played on flashing neon panels in my opinion.
