Various threads on the same subject

First off, please forgive me as Im a tad pissd!

OK, picture the scene..

You're in a pub with 3 of your mates and you have a conversation at your table about the current state of the English Football Team.

On the next table are 4 of your other friends who decide to strike up the same topic of conversation and you find yourself stuck in the middle but listening and debating the same thing as the other 3 people.

Whats the best thing and most logical thing to do?

1. Get everyone to join in the conversation?
2. Get everyone to join in the conversation?

or

3. Disco 2

For f**** sake, We had numerous threads on the same thing with Fundamental (Hi Nickname) and the forum gets impossible to read and sometimes you cant remember which thread you're following.

So, Im in agreement with Drico here (at least someone is moderating).

We should stick to one topic one thread and it makes life so much easier.

Hopefully we will have slept on it.

Nite!

Drico did the correct thing and pointed out that there was already another thread with the same discussion in a perfectly polite manner. How things have blown up from there I have no idea.

We have had issues in the past (especially around new releases time) where the same stuff is being posted up three or four times because people haven't looked to see if it is already being discussed, and yes, it is frustrating to look through three or four threads when they talk about the same thing.

Such moderation and requests to check that you're not about to post something that is already being discussed are nothing out of the ordinary on an internet forum such as this. I am a member of others where this happens too - it's easier for the forum members to read through and it also reduces the costs associated with the running of the forum. Everyone is a winner and I see no reason why anyone should find such a request or actions unreasonable.

We have a facility to merge posts to a thread. I'm sure this will happen soon.

Dave :)

I agree, keep it simple. No need for more than one thread on the same subject.

Does it really matter about the amount of threads? Im sure it won't go drastically over board.

I'm scared to start a thread now. if I were to amazingly come into possesion of yes I probably would just do my track by track review in the yes tracklist thread for fear of doing a new one

A track-by-track review would justify a new thread, but all subsequent reviews should be in that thread. i.e., no new thread for every review. Just my opinion.

IMO i think its ok to create various review threads, there are certainly some forum members who views i value more and id hate to search through one huge thread.
can we have a YES subforum though and keep it for all discussions related to the new album. all general banter on psb can be in the main psb thread ?!
