The gamer (or how I idly waste my free time) thread

Gaming, the fourth most noble pursuit behind mountain climbing, deer hunting and rock throwing. Any avid gamers amongst PSB fandom out there ?

I've got a PS3 and aside from being heavy and brutal enough to be a potentially subversive murder weapon, it's actually quite a good console as well. Gametags welcome, though no mentalists please.

Seven plugged in? That's insane!

I've got a xbox 360 and currently playing Tiger Woods 2009. Also got a DS and obviously a P.C. I also want a Wii, just for that Wii Fit thingy.

There are also those interactive games you play on the DVD player. They are alright.

I bought a chipped Wii second hand, and for the first 6 months, it was great, we'd all have a laugh playing the likes of wii sports etc. then the novelty of the controls wore off and I can safely say that it's not been touched since Christmas. It's been pretty much retired now. Mind you, Pro Evolution was pretty good on it.

I've been much of PC gamer outside of the odd game of Football Manager and the whole WoW fad has passed me by. I had a friend who was seriously into it, but could never really see the appeal. It's like Eastenders, in that it's depressingly relentless and never ends.

Not as much these days, lack of money means no Xbox 360 etc. for me.

Been playing WoW a lot. Frequency is right about it.

I've got a PS3 60Gb (PS2 game compatible, yay!), PSP and my most recent addition, my Alienware PC.

Since SP2 came out for Vista I have, for the first time, been able to install Quake 4 which I had on my old XP PC but which refused to install on Vista when I first got my new PC, so I've been playing that a bit the last few days.

I'm also playing The Simpsons on the PS3 at the moment and Resistance Retribution on the PSP (mainly when I've been in hospital lately). I'd buy some newer games for each, especially the PS3, but I have no money at all at the moment. :(

For me its only on PC and for health reasons only a few titles.
I buy a few games a year but cant play em thru.

I am currently trying Crysis as successor to Far Cry 1 which
I thought was very good.

And the one thing Glen and I can agree on : Portal is superb.

(Hell-o. Are you still there ? Target lost. Shu-ting down.)

EA Grand Slam Tennis on the Wii is ridiculously addictive. As fantastic as the gameplay is, the little touches really make it - like when at a critical stage in a tense 5-setter the umpire admonishes the excited crowd with a perfectly timed "Quiet please" just as you're about to serve. Oh, I say. New balls, please.

Drico.

My husband is addicted to World of Warcraft.
Before that it was Playstation football games. :wall:
Almost as bad as watching soaps on the TV = waste of valuable life IMHO. I'm sure most would disagree.

Bought Infamous for the PS3 a few weeks ago and I'd highly recommend it to anyone with a passing interest in sandbox games. Probably the best one I've played in a long, long time and much better than the highly overrated GTA4.

Having retired the wii earlier this year I may hook it up again for that tennis game Drico mentioned. I haven't played on it since Christmas and the novelty wore off pretty quickly. That said if there were more games of the calibre of Resident Evil 4 on the wii then it wouldn't be an issue.

Hahaha! I knew the video of that freak would get to this forum. Check the other ones filmed by his younger bro. I wouldn't want them as neighbours!

As for videogames, I'm a Nintendo DS man. Suikoden Tierkreis, Henry Hatsworth and The legendary Starfy are what I play theese days.

Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, is a fantastically violent and fun way of wasting a few hours. It's even more fun when played on the lounge telly with the sound fed through the stereo. :D
