If any of you grew up in the U.S. during the early 80's or before, you might remember how wonderful the soda pop used to taste. You probably try one these days and think "it sure doesnt taste like it did when I was a kid"

Well, the truth is, it really doesn't. You see, in the mid 80's, Coke and Pepsi (and almost all the other makers) switched from making their soft drinks with sugar to making them with something called "High Fructose Corn Syrup (HFCS)"

HFCS provides the same amount of sweetness as sugar, so what's the problem? Well, the problem is that it just doesnt taste the same, and there is a difference in the fizzyness quality as well.

That's why I am very happy that, for the second year in a row, Pepsi has brought out "Pepsi Throwback" with real sugar, the way it was made from the early 1900's until that dark day in 1984 when they switched to the imposter, HFCS. All Hail, real sugar!

I drink Diet Coke. Because I like the taste. No one ever believes me. And it sounds like I'm copying that old slogan "Just for the taste of it, Diet Coke" I'm pretty sure Diet Coke does taste nasty, but I was raised on it. I don't like it by itself at all. But at a meal, it washes down food the best and doesn't fill your stomach up with crap calories. Drinking full calorie any pop at a meal ruins it for me.
