RIP Malcolm McLaren (22 January 1946 – 8 April 2010)

McLaren died of cancer in New York City on 8 April 2010. His body will be flown back to the United Kingdom, and buried in Highgate cemetery, North London.

Sorry to hear this. I could never get into Duck Rock, which is odd, because it's a horn production and it's got Dolby in there somewhere I think (maybe not) and Eminem was obviously listening to it. But I did have that album from around 1989 years ago that I thought was great. Very opera meets pop. Didn't he have a Hague produced album as well? Is it any good.

RIP. "Buffalo Gals" impresses me for the first time, oddly. I remembered disliking it as a kid, thought it was weird, ugly and uncatchy. Tonight I'm sort of in love with its mix of 80's NYC style with that brilliant British way that makes you see it anew, and through a certain lens. McClaren was a genius at that, a packager of style.
And there's no way PSB weren't influenced by this. There's something melancholy and urban about the echoes in Buffalo Gals that reminds me of PSB back in yore.
