I've been messing with the Minimal CD single again. Love the UMX software. But I have never been able to figure out how to save it to a better format a la mp3 or such. Anyone know how? Good they put out such a good disc, as the DVD single was truly pointless. Thanks for a DVD, instead of a CD, much better, right?

Oh man I've been trying to figure a way to rip a mix off that disc forever. I only highlight the acoustic guitar, drums and vocals and its so good! Anyways, even just playing it it skips constantly. I don't think there's any way, unless you can record music playing from your internal speakers or something, but even if I did that its always skipping.

There has got to be an answer to this. The remix I made (and then lost years ago) was the main mix I listened to. The undercurrent sounds in Minimal are so beautiful when brought out in the right way. As good as the track is, it's like It's A Sin, where there is other stuff going on underneath and you can't hear it properly. I especially like the drums when they are alone with the vocals after the middle countdown.

Wasn't there some means of editing the exe file to bring back up a save button that they'd disabled? Seem to remember that from back in the day. Do a search, you might turn something up. Wasn't it 'UMYX' though?

I did mess around with it briefly, and I seem to recall someone from UMYX joining here and posting around the time of the realease, but it didn't ever run properly on my old PC - it always crashed at random times.

I'm playing my Minimal (Lager and Crisps dub) loudly in crystal clear stereo now. :)
In Winamp! :)

Here's the relevant thread. Just tried it myself and seems to work fine. Although I'm also getting the odd glitch in the sound.

The old v2.4.5 version that is on the Minimal CD is a bit buggy, though that can export fine with the hack. A newer 3.0.1 version was also released on the old U-MYX website (unfortunately this does not play the old U-MYX files). This version is a much better design and probably what GO MIX was developed from... Both I worked out how to get the button back on - using logic rather than knowledge.
