Fasting

Wondering if anyone here has ever fasted for any length of time, whether for religious, health, diet, or other reason? It' Wednesday afternoon and I haven't eaten since Sunday night, except for sticks of gum that have minimal calories. Other than that, only water and root beer. I would have expected I'd feel dead tired and sick at this point, but I don't! And I've been working out every day. My hearts a bit irregular at the moment though after excercising, so took some salt (no calories) to see if that helps. Oh, and yes, I know it's dangerous and blah blah, i don't need a lecture.

Note: Root beer is diet, no calories.

Why are you doing this? If you want to lose weight just diet sensibly. Not trying to lecture you but with all the exercise and no food whatsoever it's really not wise, you'll probably collapse eventually.

I had to fast for 24 hours when I had food poisioning, thats all I can think of.

Why make a thread then? Clearly for attention...

You've always got something nasty to say about my threads don't you? Worse than the Undertaker. I'm interested in others experiences, just like anyone on this forum is interested in others opinions and knowledge about PSB music. I made a post a few weeks ago that I ran a mile in under 10 minutes at 336 pounds, where was your snarky comment there? or did you not want to look bad in the middle of well wishers?

Actually Lucy's first comment wasn't at all nasty; she merely said what most sane, rational people would say. If you said you had explosives up your arse and were just off to a fireworks display BUT DON'T LECTURE ME, you'd probably get a similar reaction.

Whats that noise? Oh its Lucy hitting the nail on the head. As for fasting, i would sooner stick pins in my eyes. I have had 3 operations, so 3 times ive not eaten for a 24 hour spell. f*** doing that again.

Fasting is the worst (at least for me) the first 16 hours. Yeah, that sucks. But then you hit the 2nd wind and it's clear sailing (at least for me). Doctors also recommend losing no more than 1-2 pounds every week or two. But some guy on the biggest loser went from 358 to 343 in just one week. Seems almost impossible. That's like burning 7000 calories a day. I don't see how it can be done, even at 358.

Your body will think it is starving so it will try to hang on to fat. Fasting for weight loss is not a good idea.

I've read that within 24 hours the body makes the switch to whatever fat you have left, and uses that as fuel. IT only goes after muscle if you have low body fat to begin with. Certainly a fat guy who fasts for most of 200 days would get skinny. How much of his muscle gets used up before he loses fat? I don't think we know. I just ended my fast with a meal after about 83 hours, my muscles feel good and strong at the gym. Also, starving is a very specific medical term that does not apply in the way you use it to me.

I think there should be a thread where we can all discuss Firth of Forth.

Dear oh dear. A fat guy who fasts for 200 days would get skinny, he would also be dead. That's unless you are this cool dude
