Oh dear, "difficult second album" syndrome alert.
"We're not one of those artists that writes 50 songs and picks the 10 best ones. We write 10 songs and every one will go on the record." Hi Andy and Vince!

I just think it's admirable of her to declare a genre dead seeing as the only reason she's famous is for ripping it off (albeit very successfully). And if they're now influenced by Italo Disco then surely they're still in the bloody 80s anyway!!!!!

Does she have a personality? I have never really been able to discern one.

Genres don't really die, they just become more or less mainstream.
Abrupt changes in musical direction are risky things. La Roux should take heed.
