"Sorry, never buy from a Welsh person!"

Think about this statement. Imagine it with the word 'welsh' replaced by the world 'black', 'arab', 'jewish', or 'gay'. I think you'd agree that it sounds rather unpleasant. In fact, as it stands, it is racist and unpleasant. Furthermore, it violates the forum's first rule:

" 1. The posting of Racist/homophobic/sexist or other such bigotry is
forbidden. This is a multicultural forum, and such actions cannot be tolerated."

I think a withdrawal and an apology are in order.

I think its just a miss understanding. I read it has be aware of a certain seller from wales not the welsh population in general.

It's a bit like being called a racist for saying a German gave me bad service...

Why would I be racist? I'm amazed how many people misunderstand quotes of forum regulars and think they are being victimised.

One of my best friends from School had Welsh blood and I would never be racist to him. I'm sure he isn't a sheepshagger like Welsh people are stereotyped as.

This is the same as, for example:

One black person mugged you -> "Watch out for black people late at night"

One gay person you met is a camp queen -> "Gay people are camp queens"

Theoretically, yes. But practically, no. I believe there's a great difference between mocking people who have a long tradition of being suppressed and looked down upon (like blacks and gays, for instance), and mocking priviledged people who've always been at society's top - like brits, danes, americans, dutch and also welch. The latter is simply friendly mocking, like when danes and swedes makes jokes about each other. Noone takes it seriously because it is not supposed to be taken seriously. It only becomes serious when it is too close to comfort for one of the groups involved.
