One for the Brits, dunno if this TV programme ever made it outside of the UK? If not, it was a TV show about a boy who kept a diary of his adolescent life, starring Julie Waters. Very, very funny! When I was 11 I used to dream about Pandora...

Anyone else used to love this? I picked up a VHS and after sitting through 3 hours of it with my wife we both decided it was as good now as it always was. I couldn't find any websites about it, so I made one. A couple of vid clips, a remix of the theme tune and a snapshot gallery.

The adrian Mole books were/are really famous. Sadly I was too young to remember the TV series. No doubt it was as funny?

I can't remeber that show, but I read the book in 8th grade, and loved it. Hilarious stuff.

Yup - it was also shown in Denmark. I thought it was rather good. I think I was quite young back then though, although I can't remember exactly which years the show was aired.

Yeah, I remember this. It was a great programme/book.

The original series went out on ITV in the UK around 1985.

The actor who played Adrian Mole (Gian Samarco, or something) went to the same school as me (Kingsthorpe Upper in Northampton, UK).

And the books are excellent - Sue Townsend is an excellent writer. Apart from the Adrian Mole series I would particularly recommend Number Ten, a terrific satire on Tony Blair and the Labour government.

I had both books at the time and watched the series when it was first shown. It seems a long time ago now, but then it would be if it was 1985!

I thought whatshisface was good as George Mole.

I have read *all* the books, up until he was 35 or something, and they continued in the Guardian (until the very last entry where Adrian was taken in as a wrongly suspected terrorist after the Sept 11th bombings). I do remember seeing a few episodes of the TV show, and I can still hum the chorus of theme tune Though I never quite got the words "(something something) in love with Pandora (something something something something something)".

Sue Townshend, as it were, will probably not be writing more books as she has gone blind, according to an article she wrote (dictated?) in that paper.

Was it not earlier than that? I remember the episode where they are watching the Royal Wedding of Charles & Di (1981) and that can't have been much more than a year or 2 after that. Isn't 1983/ 84 more likely

The book may have been written before 1985, but the episode where they watch the Royal wedding was definitely broadcast in 1985.
