Never liked her music as almost all r'n'b, rap and etc... There is in Russia people think she was a singer of a one song (will always love you), that was 20 years ago, before that no one heard about her, after that no one heard about her, as me... But sure she had a good voice and very sad she had problems with drugs...

Sad news. I slow danced to her records with one of my first boyfriends back in the 80s and bought her early singles on 7''. I never got to see her in concert, but saw her in person twice. She came over to wish us luck on a sponsored walk for AIDS charities, and she sang one glorious note at fashion Rocks at the Royal Albert Hall. God bless you Whitney. RIP.

used to watch her reality show...I think she came off as a troubled woman.....but nice and friendly.
in related news....the news is reporting her teen daughter had to be taken away in an ambulance later she was so distraught. that kind of thing really gets to me. theres got to be few things as difficult than losing a parent when you are in the teen years.

now there is an update, she had water in her lungs, so possibly drugs knocked her out, or she had some kind of heart failure and she drowned in the bathtub.

Really sad.. RIP

Apparently she wasn't that popular in black music circles, her sound was too 'white', that's why. Lauren hill produced her album at the end of the 90s

Not quite. She produced ONE track ("I Was Made To Love Him"), which was a hidden track on the "My Love Is Your Love" album. Wyclef Jean produced the title track. Rodney Jerkins and Babyface were behind most of the tracks on the album.

Cheers for that! I used to really like Rodney Jerkins in the 90s, he made some fantastic records - The Things You do - Gina Thompson , think he produced a wicked remix of Total Can't You See? Unfortunately RnB went too far down the commodity fetishism route for me.

I think it's true to say though that Whitney Huston was not considered to be a maker of 'black music' until that album.

There was a wicked remix of the Babyface track 'The lover in you' by Puffy with Ghostface Killa rapping on it, the beat was sick!

When David (Bowie) and I met her (in person), outside BBC television centre in 1987 she was sweet. She treated us to a burst of 'So Emotional' and gave us her leftover jelly babies.

Slow dancing, though?

Her poppy stuff in the 80s was far more focused than the terrible late 90s material. She really misfired when she tried to attempt the 'rnb' stuff. I guess she was a wasted engine by them. I'm convinced she'd have been happier in the arms of a woman than the Bobby Brown tramp.
