Sid was marvelous. His ludicrous preposterousness puts him up there with Jessie "The Body" Ventura in the commentating hall of fame. His mastery of metaphor simultaneously glorified and mocked the game and people he loved. It was serious, but never serious.
"You could hear a blob of vinegar drop on a chip in this hall."
