I heard that George Lucas hated it when DVD took over laserDisc so he delayed as long as he could. i don't know if that was true or not just what i heard

Will be fantastic when the final 1 comes out then get box set of all 6 with Special Fetures galore.

Lucas said that the ORIGINAL versions would not ever be released; only the digitally remastered, altered re-releases.

I understand a lot of people are unhappy about this.

I'm not a fanboy, but "The Empire Strikes Back" is a superb film and my favorite of the three. Worth having, I think..

No, it definitely shouldn't. I hate the idea that aboslutely everyone should like something – especially when that something is an overblown, childish and rather dim sci-fi melodrama. I loved it when I was eleven, but that was then. Please buy it if you want it, but as cinematic achievements go, it's not exactly Citizen Kane or Raging Bull, is it?

Yay! The original thrilogy is absolutely great, but the new Episodes 1-3 suck. ...I know what you're thinking: Episode 3 hasn't come out yet. I know, but I have already made up my mind about it - it sucks. I hate Hayden Christensen as Anakin. Lucas shouldn't have taken over the directing duties on these new ones.

No. Far more people like it. Seriously, though, it changed the face of modern cinema. Probably for the worse, I'll grant, but the Star Wars films marked a huge change in the way Hollywood thinks about movies. In terms of both special effects and marketing, I'd say that the Star Wars films have had a far greater impact of the filmmaking industry than any film since. To dismiss them as "rather dim sci-fi melodrama" is to totally miss the point.

I'll be rushing out to buy it, like most late 20's-early 30's males wanting to re-live their youth! And now we can do it through surround-sound and huge televisions!
I've been utterly disappointed with the recent Star Wars movies, so these features should restore my faith (thus, bringing me back from the dark-side!).
Of course, the ending to Star Wars is a blatant rip-off of The Dambusters.

Don't like SW. I'll stick to my Transformers box sets - I must get the 4th one as it's been out for ages!!!

i was speaking about a DVD that optimises the effects digital technology ie. StarWars. THX sound and LucasArts does this. Thats what I was talking about BTW....and I'm sure there may be a few more people that would buy the StarWars trilogy over gems like Raging Bull and Citizen Kane anyday

Huh? Furry muppets was what Henson did... And I would't call paper cut x-wings, a guy pushing air between his lips to simulate a fly by sound and huge snowy landscapes made of polystyrene digital technology...

They only wacked it on digital media... and wacked in some sound channels and digital explosions that look more realistic then anything else in the movie, hence missing the point of digitalizing it... It was never digital to begin with, and it will never be. The fact that it looks better then Flash Gordon does not mean it is as cheesy and less confusing to follow.

It's a pure marketing stunt... Now you are buying this three pack, and in a few more years you'll be buying it again, but then having a pack of all six movies at once...

I don't know about Steve Fett, but I won't. I never bought the special edition videos (although I saw them at the cinema) and I won't buy any box set of all Star Wars films. I just want them all on DVD once, because my videos have deteriorated to the point where they look bloody awful...

Similarly, I've bought the extended editions of each Lord of the Rings film. I never bought the cinematic cut DVD's, and I won't buy any future box set.
