Yeah, I wasn't getting my hopes up. Nightbird was the last thing they put out that warranted multiple listens.

I like the Violet Flame, and the Christmas album.

They just premiered the lyrics video on YouTube, it sounded better there, so 5.5/ 10. It’s alright.

"This is one of those magic moments that comes around every 2-3 years and acts as a touchstone and a soundtrack of each of my life’s eras. There are no words to describe how excited I am because, after what the world had gone through, they’re needed like medicine for the soul."

Outstanding songs are certainly thin on the ground for Erasure this century but the below 9 tracks since Nightbird all make it onto my all-time favourite top100 songs.
Make it wonderful
Sacred
Be the one (Paul Humphrey's remix)
Smoke and mirrors (atatika remix)
When I start to break it all down (frankmusic remix)
Give me life
I am the boy who smiled at you
Storm in a teacup (extended mix)
Glass angel (eqalateral mix)

So far the world's largest Erasure forum is loyally positive about the new single. World's largest in terms of number of sub-threads obviously.

What was the deal with I Say I Say I Say, Erasure and Cowboy all being released within three years? I know that PSB were also floundering a bit as the 1990s drew to a close but at least their albums tended to come out at three-year intervals and there was an internal logic to their release (the Spanish album, the druggy album, the guitar album). I still can't work out what happened to Erasure - they really did fall off so quickly.

Big mistake releasing these albums so close together during a time when the charts were dominated by Britpop acts. When most acts associated with the 80s had a massive fall from Grace, I’ve always thought, it was an achievement for PSB to come out of the Britpop years, with a B Sides collection reaching Number 2, and 4 Top 10 hits

Greetings,
Frankly, I thought each of those three albums were very good. I'm not sure what spacing them out further would have achieved, other than perhaps saving us from the diabolical Loveboat?
Retro.

Say Say Say, is my favourite Erasure Album. Quite liked Erasure the Album, loved Fingers and Thumbs from it. Wasn’t too keen on Cowboy, and yes the less said about Loveboat the better.
