Pet Shop Boys - Hochhaussinfonie

The Hochhaussinfonie was a multimedia musical production by the Dresden Symphony Orchestra and the Pet Shop Boys, conceived by Markus Rindt and directed by Sven Helbig , on the evening of July 20, 2006 in Dresden.
This is a documentary filmed by Bettina Renner about setting the entire thing up.
"The multimedia production consists of three main parts. Firstly, a film is projected onto the buildings surrounding the pedestrian mile between the main train station and the Altmarkt. It takes the viewer through an arc around the eventful history of Prager Strasse from construction, destruction, multiple transformations up to the focal point of the turning point in 1989. The film includes original recordings from surveillance cameras from 1989, private films from Dresden citizens and archive recordings of Prager Strasse since 1851 for use.
Secondly, the block of flats on the street simultaneously transforms into a projection surface, film set and matrix for a light production that includes the balconies and apartments in the block and connects the individual components of the event.
Thirdly, Sergej Eisenstein's film “Battleship Potemkin” merges live on a screen on the apartment block with the sound of the Dresden Symphony Orchestra and the Pet Shop Boys sitting in the balconies. The block forms the perfect urban backdrop for the masterpiece of constructivism and indirectly transforms into the setting of the film's story."
