Is this the boys best track for some considerable time? It’s certainly got fans talking and for me it’s getting better and better. The darkness brooding within it on a generally optimistic album is a great juxtaposition and perfect as a closer.

I see it as a seedier, more brooding love comes quickly - and it’s all the better for it.

It's bloody brilliant and probably the best track on Nonetheless all things considered.

Love is the law
but you can’t regulate it
The desire is so strong
and you won’t moderate it

For me personal, this is the most beautiful part of the song. It's so emotional...

First time when the percussion started I expected Falco to belt out Out Of The Dark.

On a more serious note, probably one of their best album closers, ever.

Anyone remember the plainsong choral sample that was teased on their Insta? That's there in the outro.

This is one of their finest creations ever. Breathtaking.

If the rest of the album had been a let down (it isn’t) I’d have been happy with just this one song… it delivers so much.

At the event at King's Place I took a moment to come round after hearing this track. Stunning stuff. I'm hearing echoes of Cole Porter's Love for Sale and their own Love is a catastrophe.

It's brooding, atmospheric and full of menacing tension. The least immediate song on the album and almost icy cold in delivery but the one that's likely to be most rewarding due to the complex ambition it shows. At the King's Place playback this and "The Secret of Happiness" seemed to be the best received from the people around me which goes against the grain of fans feedback from that event and subsequent listening. Like others have said, we're lucky that the rest of the album delivers on the whole.

I mentioned in another thread that some melodic elements are similar to The way it used to be to my ears. I love it!

The last three songs on the album still haven't clicked for me.

It's a grower. I felt the same with Behaviour.

I'm delighted we still get this quality from them.

Controversial opinion, but this the best closer since Legacy, which sits beautifully alongside Love Is the Law.

Neil said it is their "James Bond" song at the Manchester album Q and A last week.

The Best closing track since Kings cross, and the best sequenced album since Behaviour

It's an absolute stunner, almost out of place on the album. The whole lyric is sheer poetry but these six lines seal it for me (also "watch it and learn it / study it and earn it"), especially with Neil's part wistful, part bitter delivery. My mind went to James Bond theme or centerpiece for a musical.

Is this song a tango? I visualize a dance but it's kind of antagonistic. Sort of "Tango de Roxanne" from Moulin Rouge vibes.

Neil's voice, sampled and programmed to sing "Miserere mei, Deus" by Allegri. I had to look that one up, but it was worth the tumble down the rabbit hole. Supposedly there's a longer version out there somewhere.
