Pet Shop Boys music appearing in TV shows

Does anyone else watch the addictive and compelling show “Industry” which airs on HBO and Max here in the U.S.? It’s about relationships, power, sex and back-stabbing at a huge investment bank in London. I came a little late to it and I’m currently near the end of its third season.

Anyway, this season the music has been fantastic… including not one but two extended uses of PSB music: Opportunities and Always on my mind. They have also utilized Book of Love and Electronic (“Getting Away With It”) in the episode I just finished.

This may be conjecture on my part but there’s also a synth sound effect that is used throughout all three seasons that absolutely reminds me of the intro to Dancing Star. The first season started during the pandemic so maybe Neil and Chris were slightly influenced?

Great show, great use of PSB and beyond… I recommend it! 😎

Indeed a brilliant show and commissioned for a 4th season. More of an updated Capital City from 1990.

Weird, I just heard about this show this morning with people likening it to "This Life", the lawyers-living-together TV drama in the 90s.

Have you heard of the popular new Netflix crime thriller series from Denmark called “The Asset”? It’s relatively new and “It’s a sin” is featured prominently in multiple episodes!

The young daughter of the main couple loves dance and she picks her favorite song (It’s a sin) to choreograph a dance to!

Great show, I recommend it if you like gritty cop/drug/undercover thrillers! x

The fourth season of ‘Industry’ started last week and in just two episodes thus far, PSB music has been used multiple times including during the climactic ending scene last night as Where the streets have no name/Can’t take my eyes off of you was used in such a powerful way, lasting into the closing credits. New Order songs have also featured in the new season.

Love the show! The showrunners must be massive fans. The original score and the overall use of music also besides Pet Shop Boys / Electronic / New Order is brilliant.

Episode 2 of S4 ended with a rousing Where The Streets Have No Name which, strangely, sounded so fresh and modern but keeping in with the whole show soundtrack. Deffo fans behind the scenes.

It’s got to the point now, when I’m expecting a PSB or New Order song to be played at some point during an episode

Is there any possibility for us to watch that scene if we don't have HBO?

Apologies for off-topic post, just had to mention regarding music overall throughout the show - in season 1, I discovered this amazing song that I had somehow missed previously. I cannot imagine anyone on this forum would not love it. 😊 (Todd Terje feat. Bryan Ferry - Johnny and Mary.

Ah, the old Robert Palmer song. It's a nice interpretation. I quite like how Ferry's voice is shot, lending added poignancy to the accompaniment. Very pretty. The original had a nice staccato synth backing, too, very of its time.

BBC iPlayer if you're in the UK or can "access" it elsewhere.

Thank you for giving him that suggestion. Hope you can watch it, Nickname. x
