I've seen some grumbling about the price for Obscure tickets and wonder what people think.

I've not been able to find my ticket prices for Electric, Super or Unity, but my best point of comparison are tix I bought for Peter Hook next year in Toronto at a similar size venue as Electric Ballroom.

PSB comes in about $20 Canadian higher but also the tix i have for PH are seated not GA....so....thoughts?

An artist communicates status and prestige trough the ticket pricing. After 40 years in the business it's very important what it reveals.

I'm actually surprised it isn't more expensive. My eldest child has really gotten into her live music this year and I've been paying £60-£80 just for your standard seat "halfway up in the gods" at arenas like Manchester and Glasgow.
£110 for an exclusive concert at a small venue seems actually pretty good to me.

I actually think it’s expensive. I’m pretty sure I’ve paid north of £100 to see Pet Shop Boys play in arenas on the Dreamworld tour, but for me I would expect the price to come down for a venue like Electric Ballroom. I saw the stripped back Dreamworld show there a few years ago and wasn’t a massive fan of the venue. If you look at gig tickets for other bands playing there they are playing for peanuts. Pet Shop Boys could have opted to do these shows somewhere like the Royal Albert Hall which commands a premium price. But presumably Electric Ballroom is more in keeping with the show they want to present, and also a heavy nod to their Camden roots for the Please anniversary. I am hoping for some unique staging and presentation on top of obviously the setlist in order to explain the price tag (which, don’t get me wrong, I have gladly paid). If they just rock up with a laptop then I might feel slightly short changed.

Well, I like Sleaford Mods and it’s £35 to see them live on their current tour - which includes a War Child donation from every ticket sold.

Concert tickets for name artists are expensive nowadays. Along with merchandise it’s about the only way to make money in the music industry in the age of Spotify.

When I tried unsuccessfully to get tickets for the RoH shows last year, I compared the price to what I paid for the Super shows at the same venue back in 2016. The price was about double.

£220 for my partner and myself to see Obscure is undoubtedly a lot of outlay for a night out. On the other hand, luckily I can afford it and this is the gig I think most of us fans here have always dreamed of. Plus, although we jest about the never-ended juggernaut that is Dreamworld, in reality we don’t know how much longer they’re going to be touring for.

Was it worth it? We’ll see, but I’m betting yes.

Basically describing the last time they played EB. Don’t expect much from Chris apart from a wave at the end lol.

It's expensive, like a lot of live shows. But it's also a limited run show with songs they'd need to arrange specifically, rather than rubber stamping songs they've played for the last few years. So, I don't know, it is what it is. I'd buy an overpriced ticket if I could get past bot detection

I personally thought the price was reasonable, considering the show that we will be getting.

I'm also thinking that the price has to be at a premium level, to be some barrier to the touts buying them all up in bucket loads, and making huge sums of money off them.

£110 x 1500 x 5 is £825,000.

If the show is what I'm assuming it'll be, you have to factor in these costs:

-Having Pete Gleadall and prepare 18 or so tracks for live
-Crew for sound, lighting, setup and dismantle
-Any additional musicians/guests, including rehearsal
-Rehearsal space rental
-Catering
-Paying someone to presumably put together some projections
-Hiring a screen and other gear for five days plus rehearsals
-Transport
-A cut taken by the Electric Ballroom and AXS
-No profit from the charity night
-A non-paying guest list

I don't think there'd be much, if any, money left.

Wonder if Stuart Price will be involved in prepping / reworking any of the tracks? Any live musicians will need paying too.

I don't think that £110 is completely unreasonable - PSB themselves won't be making significant money from these gigs. They are a gift to fans, and are likely to never be repeated.

I personally think the price is very fair and reasonable. The days of paying 20 quid for a ticket (Performance 1991) and a pound a pint are sadly long over..

I think it was very reasonable....compare it to concerts my daughters attend with artists who have been around 12 months its very fair.

I don’t need any additional live musicians, dancers or singers. I don't need any choreography or visuals. Just make sure the lighting and sound are perfect, let PSB do their thing and record it – even if it's only audio. This will do.
