I have started a weekly blog that will feature all of the studio albums by the Pet Shop Boys.

Each week detailed information is provided about the album and the tracks each album features, with every track rated, and album given a score based on the track ratings, culminating in a weekly chart being produced to see what ultimately is my favourite Pet Shop Boys album and the album I see as their weakest, resulting in a completed chart at the end of the series.

The scoring system is explained in each weekly feature.

The first feature is now available and concentrates on their debut album "Please".

I have a question about your album rating: you give points to every track and that will be the total score of the album. But if you have a lot of tracks, the score will be higher, won't it?

No it will not be higher if there are more tracks because the total score of the tracks is divided by what the maximum total is available, for example:

If album has 10 tracks and scores 24, you divide 24 by the maximum points the album can get (top track score is 3), which would be 30 points (10 tracks X 3) then x by 100 to give the score

If album has 12 tracks and scores 24, you divide 24 by the maximum points the album can get (top track score is 3), which would be 36 points (12 tracks X 3)then x by 100 to give the score.

Yeah, that makes more sense. I didn't see the division. Or in the case of Please: only a division by 0.

Good work, and it's very interesting to read your opinions. I'm not convinced by your scoring method. I think it would be fairer and more accurate for the final album score if you scored from 0 to 10 and divided by the number of tracks. As it is, I get the impression that you'll always receive somewhat lower scores.

I'm not 100% against AI, but I think one should be honest when using it.
I mean, of course I've written work related stuff with AI, but you still have to check it out afterwards. Otherwise you might end up "writing" that Later tonight is delivered largely in falsetto.
