Pet Shop Boys Community

Some of you may recall that in March 2016 the University of Edinburgh hosted an academic seminar called Pet Shop Boys Symposium to celebrate 30 years of Pet Shop Boys. At the time, I was approached by the organisers of the seminar to DJ an exclusive 3-hour Pet Shop Boys set to close out the event. The set, called Remark presents Pet Shop Boys: Encomium 1986 - 2016, included remixes from Please through Super. Whilst many notable tracks were included, some significant favourites were inevitably missed. So in 2018 I revisited the expansive PSB catalogue and Encomium II debuted — packed with additional hits, rarities, remixes, and collaborations.

Fast forward to 2026 and here we are celebrating 40 years of Pet Shop Boys’ contributions to music, art, pop, and the dance floor with the release of Volume, Obscure shows, and Dreamworld still going strong! So what better way to mark the occasion than to release my tribute DJ mix Remark presents Pet Shop Boys: Encomium 1986 - 2026 — featuring even more hits, deep cuts, b-sides, and material from the years since the previous Encomium releases. This four-hour remarkable journey explores iconic tracks, obscure mixes, and a deep dive into the duo’s expansive four-decade archive. Thank you! Yes the tracklist is on the Soundcloud link, of course it has tracks from almost all (!!) albums (I think just one album is missing...)...and of course all the other "hits" can be found on my previous Encomium releases. So great to have these deep cuts on this mix to get ready for Obscure!

After the first 8 minutes, I decided: OK, let us listen again from the beginning, high volume, on my stereo

This is simply superb, yes to the DJ set after Obscure???????

Unfortunately, I haven't had four hours straight to listen to it properly. But I did spend an hour skimming through the songs to get a general idea, and I think it's an extraordinary and incredibly enjoyable piece of work. Thank you so much for sharing it.

Incredible experience. I got super emotional really early on. Like an unending tapestry of all these sounds we've loved across all these decades. (How did we get so lucky to get so much?) I love the layers and juxtapositions. So much love and devotion. A wonderful feat. Congratulations and thank you, @Remark.

Aww thank you! I'm so glad that this DJ journey stimulated those emotions....I felt the same way as I carefully curated the setlist. We are so lucky indeed to have such an incredible 4 decades of such extraordinary music. My DJ mixes are just one of the ways I can pay tribute! Thank you for listening
