Who would like to produce the next album?

I've been thinking for a while that Neil and Chris should back to their roots and get Stephen Hague, Julian Mendelson, Trevor Horn, Harold Faltermeyer or even Bobby Orlando to produce their next album.

James Ford again, Nonetheless had a crisp and clean sound.

That'd be great but I think he's temporarily retired from producing as he's battling leukemia.
Hopefully they choose a new producer, James Ford brought new air and it was one of their best albums. I wouldn't mind some songs with Boy Harsher after that lovely remix but I'm not sure it would work for a full album.
However something tells me they may self-produce the next album.

Anyone with a modicum of history and gravitas. Jeff Lynne excepted.
No one who is this 15 minutes' 'latest thing', and certainly not an ego fest remixer.

I suppose it could depend on what style they want and the songs they've written. Will it be ballad heavy or banging & lasers...?

An album co-produced by PSB, Harold Faltermeyer and Julian Mendelsohn but using mostly equipment from the 80s and 90s. That would be an interesting exercise if they have the right tracks. Not very realistic, I know…

Only James Ford.
No Stuart Price again.

I'd be very happy with James Ford again, if they upped the electronic quotient a bit, like on Adrenaline and Dark end of the street.
I haven't given up my dream of a Brian Eno-produced Pet Shop Boys album, though.

The best producers PSB had were Julian Mendelson producing songs like Suburbian, It's a Sin, Always on my Mind, and Trevor Horn with Left to my own Devices, It's Alright, The Sodom and Gomorrah Show, Integral, I'm with Stupid.
It depends on the tracks but the rest producers didn't give so much like the two above. So I'll be happy if PSB work again with them. The question is how much effort and talent could they give nowadays.

Thomas Bangalter + Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo
or Dominik Eulberg
… won't happen.
