Madonna - Lower East Side Girl (from Confessions II)

Madonna has a new album coming in July, Confessions II produced by Stuart Price. Today the full tracklist has been announced and the last song seems to be a nod to West End girls: it's called Lower East Side Girl and reportedly it will be about her early days in NYC.

Also there's a rumor that a veteran male singer / songwriter will be featured in the album, can it be Neil Tennant himself?

First Confessions already paid tribute to West End girls with the intro of Jump resembling that of the PSB hit. And of course PSB themselves remixed Sorry, with additional vocals by Neil. So it would be only natural if he returns for the sequel.

That would be a very full circle moment if he was, since he interviewed her very early in her career.

And a well kept secret.

It would be great of course! But I think would have been a moment for a Madonna/PSB full collaboration.
Let’s hope the rumour becomes a reality (and consequently another PSB remix).

I forgot about that interview! It would be a full circle moment indeed. I can imagine Neil rapping the questions of that interview in the song. I hope the rumor comes true.

There are some collaborations yet to be announced, all of them kept in secret. Album was recorded in London so it wouldn't be difficult for Neil to pop up in the studio. Fingers crossed!

The Peggy Gou Energy Mix of Madonna's 'I Feel So Free' has an introduction that sounds very similar to a hybrid of 'It's not a crime' and 'I've got plans (involving you)'.

I've personally not heard any such information, and I'm in the intersection of both fanbases. Seems like speculation based on the fact... both songs have the world "girl" in their name? Slim.

The connection between Madonna and PSB is so close (producer, ex-manager, etc) that I'd be sad if they don't do something together. Even Dancing Star is a bit like Holliday from Madonna.

Neil interviewed Madonna at that time.

'I Feel So Free' got heaps of suspciously glowing comments in the media, but I just don't get it. When Madonna sings in that teeny-voice it's an immediate sign to me she's phoning it in. Best thing about 'I Feel So Free' is the disco elements taken from 'I Feel Love'.

But I guess it's just an album teaser, hopefully we get some pop brilliance. Stakes seem high for Price, having to juggle her ego and odd judgment of late.

As the release of Confessions II is getting closer, any confirmation or news about a PSB involvement in that Stuart record ?

None. Features so far are Sabrina Carpenter, Martin Garrix, Stromae, Lola Leon i.e. her daughter. I think them doing a remix is a strong possibility, though.

I’m going for Marc Almond, soft cell and Madonna were Sire records label mates in 80s New York, new soft cell album is titled Danceteria, Marc put her up in his flat for her first uk club dates when she was an unknown singer

Marc Almond is tremendously unpopular. The titletrack of the upcoming Soft Cell album has hardly any attention.
https://youtu.be/P4kE8CNvoOw 42k views.
For comparison, Madonna brought out a Youtube video "Confessions II - The Film" which has 4.3m views.
Her music video with Sabrina Carpenter has 8.6 million within the same duration as Soft Cell's 42 thousand.
She's probably collaborating with Sabrina Carpenter to bring herself into the limelight amongst this modern successful pop star.
Collaborating with Marc Almond would be doing the opposite of that.

I'm glad to see Madonna doing really well with this upcoming album.
The vinyl and CD packages for it look very eye-catching and well designed.

I personally have strong doubts that Neil Tennant will be featured on L.E.S. Girl, which by the way is the actual title.
But I'm curiously looking forward to this release. It comes out this Friday. I'm sure Neil and Chris will give it a listen.

Marc Almond and Soft Cell are not "tremendously unpopular". They're just nowhere near as popular as Madonna.
