Hum, it's interesting to see the "standard" psb albums (Please, Actually, Behaviour, Very....). I've always seen the track NUMBER 8 in all their albums is one of the weakest one. Of course, it depends on what kind of songs you like most but I think so.

Please - Violence
Actually - I want to wake up
Behaviour - Nerviously
Very - One and one make five
Bilingual - Up against it
Nightlife - The only one
Release - Here

I can't say that I agree, but what I have noticed is how strong the album openers usually are:

Please - Two divided by zero
Disco - In the night
Actually - One more chance
Introspective - Left to my own devices
Behaviour - Being Boring
Very - Can you forgive her?
Bilingual - Discoteca
Nightlife - For your own good
Relase - Home and dry
Disco 3 - Time on my hands

That (with a couple of exceptions) is a pretty awesome collection of songs.

actually I have no problem with both your lists. not that they are weak tracks per se, but they are tracks I dont really care for at all without exception.

Agree to One and one make five as one of the weakest on Very. Disagree about the rest: I like I want to wake up, do like Violence, Nervously, Up against it and The only one, and deeply love Here.

I agree with you... often tracks 8 and 9 on a lot of albums are throwaways. Though I really do like I Want To Wake Up, especially the Further Listening version.

Good point.... I want to wake up is my least favourite song on Actually, actually.
But Nervously is fab song.

I like I Want To Wake Up my least fav on Actually is Rent.

i have to disagree. those are all my favorite album tracks!! i think my least favorite PSB songs are Shopping and Footsteps (tho i do like the live version of Footsteps)

It's not a bad point. "One And One Make Five" is generally regarded as the weakest track on Very and rightly so. The same goes for The Only One on Nightlife - even more rightly so. I also find "Here" to be rather weak on Release, especially since the song is so demo-ish.

I love the rest of the tracks, though, especially Violence.

Track No 8 on Battleship Potemkin is "No Time For Tears"

I also like track 8 on Disco!

Right, let's look at the evidence...

Violence - Absolutely love this. Soulful vocals from Neil, moving lyrics and a warm melody.
I Want To Wake Up - Would get in my all-time PSB top ten. That this disco classic didn't get a single release just sums up how amazing the Actually album was and still is.
Nervously - A classic ballad and my second favourite track on Behaviour after To Face The Truth.
One and One Make Five - Now this I'm not particularly keen on - and it sounds very cheesy and dated now. I still can't believe N and C saw it as lead-single material. *shudder*
Up Against It - I've always had a soft spot for this. Great pop song, especially the triumphant final minute and ending.
The Only One - A genuinely underrated track, in my opinion. Have always loved the way the pianos, strings and synth throbs clash, and Neil's vocal is excellent.
Here - Nice song; not one of my favourites on Release, though.

Verdict? Track 8 is OK by me.

Please - Violence (One of my all-time favourite PSB Songs)
Actually - I want to wake up (Decent song; One More Chance, Hit Music and Shopping are worse than this track)
Behaviour - Nervously (Nice ballad, agree that it's one of the worst tracks on the near-perfect Behaviour album)
Very - One and one make five (Bit cheesy, worst track on album)
Bilingual - Up against it (One of my favs on Bilingual)
Nightlife - The only one (Worst track on album after NYC Boy and Footsteps)
Release - Here (My 2nd fav track on Release)

Of the No. 8 tracks the only one I think is weak is 'One and one makes five'. Nervously is one of my favorite PSB songs.

I do agree that their opening tracks are very strong. I always thought 'Discoteca' should have been the lead single from Bilingual instead of the insipid 'Before'.

Worst tracks on each album and their sequence number, IMO:

Please: Track #11: Why Don't We Live Together

Actually: Track #5: Hit Music

Introspective: Track #6: It's Alright

Behaviour: Track #9: The End Of The World

Very: Track #8: One And One Make Five

Bilingual: Track # 12: Saturday Night Forever

Nightlife: Track #8: The Only One

Release: Track #1: Home And Dry

Obviously not much can be concluded from this, but since #8 is the only one appearing twice, I guess you're somewhat right in my book!

Violence and I Want To Wake Up are both brilliant and are not the weakest tracks on the albums. If we have to have a weakest track on Please and Actually those would be Later Tonight and Hit Music.

The only one may not be particularly good but the weakest track on Nightlife is Footsteps.

One And One Make Five is not too bad and it's stronger than e.g To Speak Is A Sin

There are tons of worse tracks on Release than Here.

So basically, I don't know what you're on about.
