In the studio - 22 July '05
Neil and Chris are currently working on a new batch of four songs for their next album with producer Trevor Horn, making a total of nine tracks. The latest four are described as "more electro--pop" than the first "epic" five Horn has produced. The Diane Warren composition, "Numb", originally recorded for the "PopArt" compilation and produced by Trevor Horn, will also feature on the new album to be released in Spring, 2006.


In other topics people don't know if it talks about 9 + Numb or 9 (including Numb). So I think it deserves a new topic.
For me, it talks about 9 + Numb (will ALSO feature......).

So, at the end what do you think?

Since it's mentioned seperately, I think "Numb" is the 10th track on the album, not part of the 9 other songs discussed here. The way I read this message, they recorded 5 epic and 4 electro tracks for the new album with Trevor Horn, and also "Numb", which was already recorded earlier, will feature on the album.

No. I still believe that the key is "a total of nine tracks". There would be no sense in mentioning a "total" of 9 Trevor Horn tracks, if there were indeed 10 recorded. I believe "Numb" is only mentioned seperately because it's a track which the fan community has known about for a long time. It's just clumsily written, so it could be misinterpreted.

The thing is Numb has been recorded before (one or two years before, more or less). So that's why they make a differentiation between Numb and the others.
"The 9 tracks" mentioned has been the ones recorded this year.

9 + Numb. Hopefully.

If the number of songs was 9 (Which I don't believe), at least one of the songs would be a long running song.

Personally, I couldnt give a toss how many tracks were on the album.

Its about quality more than quantity.

9 + Numb + 2 more tracks = 12

Well, I hope there will be 12 tracks after all this time...

Introspective has 6 tracks and is their best ever selling album globally.

So I don't think it really matters.

Its great that they are working with one producer throughout, and a talented one at that.

I think they meant 9 including Numb, but I don't care as long as they are good.

There can be even more songs on the final tracklisting, they don't say they have stopped creating/recording, neither they say that they haven't produced any other song with other producer(s).

There was an earlier news item on the OT which said that PSB had gone into the Studio to record FIVE tracks with Trevor Horn (Casanova in Hell, Luna Park, The Sodom and Gomorrah Show + two others [possibly 'the Resurrectionist' being one of them]).

This news item mentions FOUR further tracks being recorded NOW.

Every press release that has mentioned Numb states that it was recorded last year prior to PopArt.

This is therefore NOT A MATTER FOR DEBATE.. there are 9 tracks + Numb..so far..

Let's all move on, shall we?

I like surprises ...

Would Trevor Horn necessarily be the only producer/co-producer on the new album? The only time they ever truly enlisted one producer for an entire 10-12 track studio album was with Harold Faltermeyer for Behaviour (Please was produced entirely by Stephen Hague but with additional production credits for original versions).

I'm guessing they've at least produced a handful of their own which will either make the cut or end up as b-sides.
