Taking a look to the last comments of PSB .....

No doubts about that:
1) I think they are going to include 10 songs, at the end.
2) These ones have been chosen by PSB BEFORE the record was made (to be produced by Trevor Horn).
3) The record is already finished.
4) It seems they confide in Numb, like one of the best songs of the album. That's why they have decided to include it on this album and not in POPART.
5) At least, Neil is really excited with the new album. According to some comments of a Spanish fan who was in Frankfurt, Neil said the forthcoming album was REALLY GOOD and he felt very excited about it. So it seems it will be fantastic.

Neil also said that 'Release' was going to be amazing. He said that LIAC was better than 'Being boring'. Chris said that 'Release' was such a good album, they would be releasing 4 singles from it.
The moral of the story: Pet Shop Boys talk bollocks.

3) ? really, I thought they were still in the studio
5) he's hardly likely to say it's mediocre and that he's completely disinterested about it. Neils comments sometimes seem unrelated to the record we end up with. I still reckon the album won't appear until Autumn

Why? They said the Release would come out in the Spring and it came out April 2002.

well I hope it comes out in the spring but they do tend to procrastinate and there are parties to go to with Elton. Very, bilingual and Nightlife were all planned for the Spring but as you said Release and Disco 3 all came out quicker than expected so here's hoping

The thing is that up until Nightlife PSB were a commercial force to be reckoned with, which meant that the record company wanted to build up the marketing campaign gradually. All those albums also had a two-single build-up strategy which is a thing of the past nowadays. If they can finish the album before the end of the year, and there's no reason why they shouldn't, it will be out in March-April 2006.

About 3), I suppose Neil wouldn't say anything about an album which hasn't been finished yet.
About 5), I think the same. But this time he was very interested in talk about the new album (which is not usual in PSB when they are promoting other thing, Potemkin in this case). According to this fan, it was like an announcement. NEIL SAID IT WAS GOING TO BE LAUNCHED IN MARCH OR APRIL (another thing is if they change the dates again).
This Spanish fan also talked about some comments of Neil about going on a trip to Australia (but he didn't understand very well his English).
He knows it because he was with them and a lot of fans. PSB were very relaxed and easy going and signing autographs.

He has been talking about this album on-and-off for two years now, so that clearly is not true.

Release is a good album. LIAC is a great song.
Of course this is a personal opinion.

Okay, few simple questions:
Is LIAC better than Being Boring?
Were four singles released from the album?
If the answer to both those questions is 'no', we can safely assume they talk bollocks.
I'm reserving all judgement on this album until I hear it. Neil just isnt a reliable enough source of information when it comes to these things

Since you love PSB's 'happy songs', as discussed, it's only natural you love the euphoria of Love Is A Catastrophe.

I love PSB happy and sad songs. I love them all. But I want happy songs for the next album. What's so hard to understand?

Are you stealing my cues?
Anyway, we know nothing about this album other than PSB don't seem to know what they want this album to sound like.
As for reserving Numb, they clearly just thought that Flamboyant was better and changed to that as the second new track at the last minute. They always go with what's the best they have at any given time and PopArt was a bigger priority for them at the time of release than an album they were about to take almost 3 more years to release.

You seem to be one of few people on this forum who is talking sense at the moment, so yes, I am stealing them!
