sounds in parts a lot like 'birthday boy' by the Pet shop boys... or is it just me.
He's a fan so who knows.

Hmmm... That's a tricky one. Because I kind of like "Advertising Space," but hate "Birthday Boy." If it is a sort of homage, at least he did it right! ;)

It sounds like Birthday Boy at around 3.40 well it stands out more at that point..but as Robbie has had Neil do backing vocals on No Regrets and also did the cover version of I wouldn't normally do any thing is possible  .

Have you seen the video? Robbie is a Blackpool Elvis.

I agree! I was going to say just that. It also reminds me of 'Live for today' by Cicero and Sylvia Mason-james

Robbie is definately a Blackppol Elvis, that's where he'll spend his days, end of pier show. Ooh, the irony!

Not only at around 3.40, both songs are very alike at the beginning! :p

I agree that Robbie's "Advertising Space" is very alike "Birthday Boy".
But Robbie sings better than Neil! Haha...

I am also a Robbie's fans. But I think the music video is boring, too! :(
I don't like his Elvis style hair!

Just caught a glimpse of Robbie on T4 and heard him describe his current level of success and how long it will last. He said he's in what he likes to describe as his 'imperial phase', which as some of you will know is how Neil described the part of their career around the time of It's A Sin and Heart hitting number one in the UK. Obviously Uncle Neil has been imparting his wisdom to young Robbie :)

I like the song, whatever it might have got
to do with PSB. Nevertheless I prefer the 1.
single from the album, 'Tripping' ...

The guitar part in the beginning is completely like the beginning of Birthday Boy.
