In the last days I recognise some emails about Tickets for PSB@ROH which I THINK could be a money trap. After we have to hold this email open for user requests and alerts via the contact link (at the...
I know yesterday (13th March) was the first time a new PSB track had been played in ages, but (as per the long standing forum rules) in future all public requests for copies of any new track, PSB or otherwise, will be deleted and/or threads containing requests closed. We will officially...

Thank you for the link leesmapman. I was already aware of them and found the last one does not include the first song they played (the Blur song Girls and Boys (PSB Remix)). For some reason it has been omitted from the youtube recording hence why I asked if anyone has their own recording.
Hello!
Who has ever appeared in one of the group's concert films?
I’ve appeared in two of them: eight times in the film 'Pandemonium: Live at the O2 Arena, London' and six times in 'Pet Shop Boys: Inner Sanctum'.

I was at the Birmingham 1991 Performance filming, the 2004 Battleship Potemkin show, the 2018 ROH show, though I am tiny dot on screen on most of these at best.
I'm also the guy in the white boiler suit pointing at the camera during "It's A Sin" at Glastonbury 2000 that was on TV. I decided that,...
Since 2011 BBC4 has been airing Top of the Pops episodes, in chronological order from 1976 onwards. This week the episode originally aired on 08 August 1985 will be shown, which means PSB'S first appearence from November 1985 is just around the corner, and from that point they will be making...

No Live promotion for DJ Culture and Was it worth it?? when you've got a greatest hits to promote is a wild stance!
Indeed. A very odd approach.. Maybe they were tired after the Performance tour a few months previously and wanted a break. But I was surprised at the time that EMI didn't insist on...
One day, out of curiosity, I decided to check which Pet Shop Boys songs were the most listened-to on Spotify. I don't use the platform myself, and I like to think that the bulk of these streams don't come from the die-hard fans; that’s why I wanted to look—I was curious to see which songs the world...

New York City Boy is a rework of a big hit "Turn the beat around" by Gloria Estefan, I'm sure David Morales has a big influence in the song as it sounds. It has a latin and happiness feeling PSB don't usually have in their songs sadly.
When the song is played on tours people recognize it, even...
So!
The Liberace and Liza show currently running at the Harold Pinter theatre has "Liza" (Jillian Snow) opening the second half with Losing my mind with Libby (David Saffert) on the keys and live backing band. It's worth the price of admission money to see this (!). Seriously if you like or love...

Replying to my own post but it'll bump this up for a while.
The Liberace and Liza show also has a bit of a throwaway joke about ''Rent'' where Liberace starts an intro and asks Liza to guess the song which is obviously not ''Rent'' but that's her guess.
Apologies if already mentioned (I searched but couldn't see anything) and I'm sure a lot of you might already know about it but Petheads who love 80s Italo disco, enjoyed HRH Princess Julia's Monday set, like the French language version of I'm not scared, etc might want to investigate the Histoire...

For anyone following this thread, and interested, there's a second volume that has just been released, again on CTR records. If you want the CD, you have to buy the vinyl too. Bah.
Looks like the rest of the bands catalogue up to Elysium is getting reissued in May in the same gatefold soft packs as the previous bunch.

I ordered mine from Townsend Music where they offer a bundle.
How did you order go? I’ve never used them before, thanks.
Ultimately, I ordered from AmazonUK.
Dispatched the same day and arrived in 6 days.
Price was the same.
However, I'll keep Townsend in my repertoire for future reference....
Pet Shop Boys new hardback book – Volume – is down to £23 on Amazon UK as part of Prime day!

And to add, I'm less annoyed by the people who went for five nights than I am the people who dragged their bored partners along, who would rather have been anywhere else, and the folks who yakked incessantly throughout the gig and couldn't enjoy a gig for two hours without constantly running to the...
Pet Shop Boys today announce the forthcoming publication of “Volume”, a 592-page hardback book published to coincide with the 40th anniversary of the release of their 1986 debut album, “Please”. The book will be published by distinguished art publishers Thames & Hudson on April 7th 2026 and is...

The format is the main thing I dislike about Volume. I personally love coffee table books. Volume is too much like a novel.
A pity they didn't insist on the same layout for Volume. They actually insisted on the changed layout, Neil says in the "World In Your Ear"-podcast (near the end of the...
Any educated guesses or facts on how much Chris or Neil might be worth? I remember reading not long ago that Neil mentioned they were surprisingly underpaid for having sold 70 million worldwide.
It's interesting (and by the time I'd got towards the end of the thesis, moving) to read this bachelor's thesis by Ada Palin of the University of Turku.
We all love the boys but sometimes ( rarely) they record songs that just ain’t up to their normal standards, so which do you dislike, skip etc can be album tracks singles

I absolutely detest this song , it’s just cheesy and makes me cringe

It's usually around this time we start to hear from the Boys about Annually for the next year, so thought I'd start the thread.
Be nice to get more info on AMFTF, Naked and maybe some teaser of work on a new album.

So, have we all got our books yet? Is it time to go full book club on this bad boy? Because I have opinions about people climbing on hotel furniture armed with sticking plaster in the middle of the night.
Or maybe that's one for the "how much further can two go" thread.
Everyone remembers the mistake made in Smash blu ray. Being boring being censored. Some of you, not me, might have received that replacing BR with the uncensored version.
But I wonder, are new copies now sold with the uncensored version, if you buy them through the mayor providers?

On Discogs, it shows that PSB are producers on the official The Crying Game Soundtrack. There are 15 tracks on the album - does anyone know how many of the tracks on the album were actually produced by the Boys?
Ed Sheeran played four shows in one night in 2011 while Elbow, Biffy Clyro, Snow Patrol, The Strokes, Kasabian, Sam Fender The Pet Shop Boys and Maroon 5 were among the acts tipped for big things who earned their stripes on the Barfly stage.

I expected more about the studio sessions, hitting the clubs, meeting SDJ and FS, being on Wogan etc.
Who's the author of the book again, cos it ain't Tennant or Lowe.
You're aware Liza was slightly famous before she met PSB and knew SDJ and FS from childhood?
I was looking for a relevant existing thread and couldn't find anything.

And is that THE Lloyd Cole in the comments underneath?
Wouldn’t it be great if Angela (PSB Manager) was to to advise some sort of update on what’s in the pipeline. I forgot they've mentioned an album in the works.
The exact quote is:

Neil Tennant: Yes, we've written some new songs. We also have an album coming out later this year, although it's not really a pop album. It's a...
He was one of the most popular Dj's in the history of Spain. His name was Joaquín Luqui (the man with long hair of the second pic). People loved him, he had a peculiar personality and full of anecdotes (also with PSB). Very charm and sweet and a big supporter of new musicians.

If they were to release a new B-sides album, which song should they use to promote it?
Last post
They should release the 3rd b-sides compilation in order not to lose momentum. And maybe reissue the 2 previous ones.
Not keen on the Obscure name, the setlist also included album tracks so it won’t be accurate at all. Leave it for a future concert release, my bet is that it could be very wellcomed!
Composer Richard Niles has brought out a book titled "Hits & Happiness: A Musical Memoir".

Richard Niles worked on Left To My Own Devices, Can You Forgive Her, Go West and Overture To Performance....

I just got the christmas cards I ordered from the PSB store. They come in a red box with a logo printed on it. The back of the christmas cards also have this logo. It says "Pet Shop Boys since 1984":
Does this mean next year will be a festive year? 40 years of Pet Shop Boys?

I’m from Germany, and everyone I know in their fifties and older knows PSB. But when I fly to England for a concert, I hear people ask suprised, ‘Are they still going?’ When I tell them they’re still releasing new albums and playing big concerts, many look at me in disbelief.

I've just read the chapter in question - it's excellent. Barry Walters is a great journalist and also a fan boy for the Pets, This quote from Neil is on the back of the dust jacket:

I've found this on Youtube and I think it could be an interesting way to go deeply on the movements that made PSB a non successful pop duo in US:

That's essentially it. They're not nearly *as* successful in the States as in Europe and various other countries, and their big success with singles (at least outside the dance charts) ended after "Domino Dancing." But, yes, they certainly do have a large and loyal American fanbase. It's not just...
Go on then, which of us "wins" for most PSB minutes for 2025?
26,748 minutes for me, putting me in top 0.001% of global fans. This doesn't include the times I switched to YouTube music and the downloaded versions when my data was getting a bit low on holiday ;)

I think they lost an opportunity when they didn't release "Somewhere" as a single from Nightlife and they didn't choose Kylie for a single potential song.

We keep on talking about producers on this thread:
But I'd like to know if you like the idea of PSB making an album with a K-pop producer, just something different apart from European or American producer. It could be nice give PSB a youthful sound with it.
